Hi all

My first pump session was two nights ago and I got 1 whole ml. Since then, each session has produce significantly less than that and after pumping one whole day I've gotten about 7 or 8 ml total. Is this even an ounce?

It seems that each pump session is producing less and less.

I was on the accelarated protocol. I took yasmin for 28 days and pumped the night of my last yasmin pill (i take them in the am). Baby will be induced this morning (crossing fingers) and I won't have access to baby (for bfing, that is) for two days. My pump schedule will be erratic since I don't want to rub it in the face of the birthmom.

Will the supply actually increase at some point?

I am trying to not obsess about amounts but I guess until I am actually bf-ing with my lact-aid, this will be my worry.

thanks, Deborah

Debra once you are bfing and pumping it will increase. The baby will definitely stimulate production.
How exciting that your babywill be here in a very short time.

Well, It's been two full days and my milk is even less. Today I had to use a finger feeding syringe to collect the milk I pumped this morning.

Yesterday our son (we hope) was born and I pumped only a couple of times and got very little. LAst night I got absolutely nothing. This morning was the syringe cllected drops.

Will this really increase? It's very hard to not get upset and discouraged. And I can't start him on my breast until he's out of the hospital - tomorrow, probably.

Help!

I would think that maybe the stress of your baby's arrival could affect your supply a bit. Good luck and congratulations!!

yep that was what I ws thinking too. You have the lact-aid, right? Just keep pumping don't worry abou the milk. Really! Once you get him to yourself start nursing with the lact-aid and pump after feeds. You will see an increase. Hang in there momma.

Dear Deborah,

What you are experiencing is quite typical. It takes a few days for the Yasmin to leave your system. It may still be inhibiting let down. If it's any consolation, you're making more milk in the first couple of days than I did and I ended up bringing in over 30 ounces per day.

Waiting to get "the word" is a very stressful experience. Stress affects the higher brain centers and in turn can affect your let-down response. Just hang in there and continue to pump. Once your baby is on your breast with the lact-aid, your milk supply should build and build.

Best,
