I have been on the protocol since July and have not experienced any bleeding or spotting until about 3 weeks ago! For a solid 3 weeks I have been bleeding. Not extremely heavy but enough that I would definately classify it as a period. Other than slight cramps I don't feel any other problems. I am not fertile so I know this can not be pregnancy related. Is it normal to bleed more than just spotting for this long. I was under the impression that the most that would happen would be spotting off and on. If anyone who has info on this could post I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

I was doing the regular protocol, but had to change to the accelerated with the early placement of our baby. I had some break through bleeding when I increased the DP rapidly and it continued untill after I stoped the pills. Mine required a liner sometimes and nothing at other times, but there was no predictining it.

I hope this helps <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

I have had breakthrough bleeding for awhile now. I didn't have it at first, and it does seem to go away sometimes, but I am usually bleeding at least a tiny bit. I have not had cramping, though. I have been on the protocol 182 days. Are you taking the full 80 mgs of Dom? Low prolactin levels can cause bleeding, too, but if you are already on the max, it is normal. I know others have also experienced the breakthrough bleeding.

Hi Casey,

When I did the regular protocol I experienced spotting and bleeding the entire time. It's not the most pleasant thing in the world but unless you're soaking through a pad every hour or so, it's what we refer to as "breakthrough" bleeding.

While on the protocol, you're taking the bcp non-stop so it stands to reason that your uterine lining does not shed as it normally would during your monthly cycle. We call this type of bleed "withdrawal bleeding" or more commonly your "period". Because we are preventing this "withdrawal bleed" this can lead to some "breakthrough". Many pregnant moms experience breakthrough bleeding as well.

Once I started breastfeeding, I didn't see "aunt flow" for a year.

Hang in there....but if you find that the bleeding is getting out of hand....have a chat with your doctor ok?

Fondly,

Thank you to everyone who responded. I am glad to know that this is normal. I have been on 80 mgs of Dom from day 1 so I don't think that is causing this. And, the bleeding isn't so heavy that I feel like I am hemmoraging or anything. More of an annoyance than anything.

Thanks again for all of your help and support!
