Hi:
I have a question about our Surrogate's breastpump. I just acquired a new Medela PIS for $180 on EBay for me. My neighbor is offering me a used one for free. And our surrogate might be able to rent a hospital grade one from the Navy hospital, I'm not sure.

My neighbor says the free used one isn't as strong as hospital grade.

My question is: Since my surrogate has started leaking milk since 22 weeks pregnant, would she need a hospital grade pump to bring in her colostrum or would the lower strength pump work for her?
Thanks,

Hi LD,

Either pump would be fine. The PIS would most likely be more convenient for her. The hospital grade ones are a bit of a pain to lug around.

Hi LD,

Make it as easy as possible for your surrogate and give her the PIS ... that way, she will be more likely to get all her pumping in, and the pump is something she will have to keep, which will be nice for her. I still have my hospital grade rental though, and I do like it now ... the main thing is the convenience ... I keep my hospital grade pump upstairs and my PIS downstairs ... I'm more likely to get my pumping in that way.

Aloha,

Who in their right mind would give up western medicine and fly to Moscow for fertility treatment? Please find your entertainment elsewhere.
