Hi, I was on bcp and dom but had to stop 6 weeks ago for other unrelated medical reasons. I had started getting a few drops by then though, and I was sad to stop. I did keep taking a few dom a day the whole time. Well, so now I can start again with the protocol, but here's my issues. - the baby is expected very soon, so should I just up the dom dose and try to start pumping, or should I start from scratch again on the pill again for a month or two with the dom? The baby can be born any minute (she's at 38 weeks) so I don't want to miss the beginning bf-ing, even if it's only a few drops. Will I be able to start up the supply again just by increasing the dom again?

Next question, I'm thinking of getting a lact-aid. I haven't gotten enough time to research all the brands, etc., so does anyone have some quick advice? thanks.

I liked the SNS for the lact-aid. But I've also used the Lact-Aid brand. It's a little bit more work to set up the bottle but is very flexible.

Don't know about how to adjust your protocol.

Good luck

Is SNS a brand name? So was it better than Lact Aid? Are there links to any discussions about this? Anyone else have opinions on which brand, etc?

I only used the lact-aid. I thought it was very convenient and I had no problems with it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The SNS stands for "Supplementary Nursing System" and is made by Medela www.medela.com

The best thing you can do is start the acelerated protocol (domperidone and Yasmin) ASAP. You'll need at least 30 days. If your baby arrives before you finish the 30 days, just breastfeed with the lact-aid www.lact-aid.com filled with either donor milk or formula until you've completed the 30 days and can start to bring in your own milk supply. Note that your baby will get some breastmilk from you while breastfeeding with the Lact-aid.

Have a look at the guide to the protocols:
http://www.asklenore.com/breastfeeding/print/induced_lactation/protocols4print.html

Focus on the acelerated protocol and follow the steps. Supplementation is likely but don't think of this as an "all or none" situation. ANY amount of breastmilk is of a huge benefit to your baby. All you need is about 1/2 oz per feeding for your baby to get all the immune benefits and other goodies.

Warmest regards,
