Hi, I had posted this yesterday, but it got lost . Anyway... I have gained some weight since being on the protocols. I have been on them for over two months. It is not entirely the protocols fault.... I am eating way too much. I need to cut down, but I don't want to risk reducing the success of inducing lactation. Is it okay to lose 1-2 pounds per week while on the protocol prior to the pumping stage? What about once you start pumping? My clothes are getting too tight!
I know that mothers who are breastfeeding shouldn't diet, but I wasn't sure about prior to pumping.... as well, I wasn't sure if 1-2 pounds was not considered a problem post pumping.
Thanks,
Punky

Hi:
I lost a couple of pounds through the South Beach Diet. I didn't notice a drop in my supply because I was already eating plenty of calories to support my milk. By just gettting back to a normal amount of daily calories, I started to shed the extra pounds. I kept up on the oatmeal and herbs, of course.

By the way, we call our daughter "Punky". It's short for "Punkin" which came from "Pumpkin" because we adopted her last September and all the pumpkins were out. LOL!

Good luck,

I remember Lenore and Nona talking about eating the High Protein low carb way to lose weight while on the protocol or pumping. South Beach is on of those type of eating plans.

PS. .. My mom called me punky when I was a kid... I don't know why! If I'm typing really fast, I have to be careful not to have the typo Pukey... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Punky same thing when you are pumping. Just keep the calories up which is easy to do with the high protein low carb.
