Hi. I am a soon to be adoptive mom who would like the breastfeed. I started out on the advanced protocol in the beginning of February. I started on the advanced protocol because I thought we were to be matched sooner. Now, I am experiencing breakthrough bleeding, almost like a period that slowly has no end.

What should I do....Should I stop the bc pill and let myself have a period? Should I keep on the pill and dom and just keep having the breakthrough bleeding? If I stop just the pill and continue with dom, do I start pumping?

Thanks for any help!!

some women experience this. There isn't any reason to stop the bcp. When is your baby due?

hello,

I had this too the first few months of the protocol. I just kept on going (with both pill and dom), and now it has been about 15 months with no signs of AF or any breakthrough bleeding.

Today after 2 weeks on the BCP and Dom, i also got one day of bleeding, the symptoms of a period just about to come on, and very light bleeding, dark brown blood. Seems to be gone tonight. Good to know it's normal.

I bled a little almost everyday for 7 months. As soon as I started pumping and still now that baby is home I've not had a period for 4 months. It's all worth it so hang in there.

I also e-mailed Dr. Newman, who got back to me quickly. He explained that the dom can interfere with the menstrual cycle. And yes it can be normal.
