I did the accelerated protocol for 35 days with Ortho/35. I started pumping 3 weeks ago tomorrow with the domperidone and the herbs. I am using the pump in style. I only get to cover the bottom of a bottle with a whole day of pumping. I am still only getting drops and after about 10 minutes of pumping I do not see much coming out at all. I must admit I am getting very discouraged and I do not know if this is going to work for me. Is there anything more I can do? Do you think it will get better? I am having twins through surrogacy so I started early because we were having pre-term labour. No babies yet and we are at 31 weeks, so I seem to still have time.

I would keep going. 3 weeks is not very long and at least you are getting some. It will only get better. Could you upgrade to a hospital grade pump? I am using the medela symphony and am in about week 8, getting over 6 ounces a day now. I am afraid to go to a pump in style in fear of losing the steady increase that I have been getting.
Dont give up!

I asked the same question in your other post. Make sure your fluid intake is adequate too. Plus keep in mind once you have babies at breast your supply will increase. Do you have a lact-aid system set up?

I am using the Pump in Style right now. I know the other recommended pump is the Lactina......do you think changing my pump will make a difference. I just ordered a lact-aid. I just had a lactation consultant come to my house and she told me to up the dom and herbs. I am now taking domperidone - 3x3 times a day and 2 x 1 time a day at breakfast. I am also taking the Blessed Thistle 2x4 times a day and the Fenugreek 3x 4 times a day. I just started this on the weekend. When you say fluid intake is adequate, how much is adequate. I think I am drinking 6 cups of water a day. Should I try to drink more. Thanks for your vote of confidence, I almost threw in the towel but I am still going!!

Generally they say at least 8 8oz glasses of water a day. That is what I made my goal. Good job keeping going! Babies are so much more efficient than a pump. I upped my dom to 30 mg 4 times a day at my peak.

Hey Ladies,
I am getting about 9-12 ml of milk after a whole day of pumping, I have been pumping for 4 weeks now. I have started to use smaller bottles. I am finding that my right breast does not respond well lately. It used to be the one that pumped well but now I hardly get any milk at all. I am lucky to get a few drops. I do not know why this has started to happen......it is like it is plugged up. One day last week I had a really good stream of milk and I got really excited, I thought it was a turning point but that has not happened again. It says in the literature that the more often you pump, the more milk you will produce.....I do not find this. Sometimes I pump 10 times a day and the right breast will go 6 pumps with a few drops coming out. If I am not draining the breast will it ever increase? I must admit, I am getting very frustrated and I do not know what to do. Any other suggestions?

I am sorry, I know how frustrating it can be.

Did you ever try increasing your domp? I went up to 120 mg a day and it made a huge difference. Are you compressing on either breast?
Sometimes applying warm moist cloths helps.

Hand expressing? I found that I often got sprays that way, verse the pumping.

Just some suggestions.

The other gals will know more if it could be a blocked duct or not.

I am on 110 mg per day. I have tried a warm cloth too. One day when I put the warm cloth on, I had a stream come out of the right breast......I was excited. But since then I am not getting anything. If I lean right over upside down I will get a few drops. But that is all. All around my right breast is hard.....
What is compressing? I am using the pump and that is all. Perhaps I can try some hand expressing, I am not very knowledgable about this, I was only shown one time.

You can put in 'breast compression' in the search, it will give you the info.
Although it speak of when you are BF your baby, this also works while pumping.
I wonder if you are not getting a strong let down response. Your breast being hard doesn't sound good.... Why not write Lenore directly? She is a wonderful person with much experience.

good luck!

I agree, write to Lenore. Breast compression worked well for me while pumping. Definitely search that out as well.

how long again were you on the protocol? You might need to go back on the protocol a bit longer

Sandkov, how is it going? Are you still pumping? Do you have the twins yet? Just wanted to offer some encouragement. Jenny
