Hi everyone,
I have been nursing dd for 4 months now and it has been going really well. I still dont know how much I am giving her but have been supplementing up to 10 ounces a day (started with 5 when she was nb). Lately, she has been fighting the lactaid tube. She will be quite happily nursing and when I stick it in her mouth, often she will pull off right away or within a minute or so of it being in her mouth. I think that sometimes, there is too much milk (from me and tube at the same time), not enough or its just not positioned right. Often, I have resorted to feeding and then topping up with a bottle where she will take about 2 ounces more. At this stage, is it going to really affect my supply if I am topping her up with a bottle rather than the lactaid? I really dont want my supply to get worse as I already dont have enough!

congrats on successfully breastfeeding!! I would go by her cues. For some reason she wants the breast without the Lactaid. What if you nurse without the lactaid and then only "top her off" if she ends the feeding unsatisfied at the breast? My thoughts are, if she ends the feeding at the breast relaxed and content, then you won't need to top her off at all, and she will get hungry sooner so you'll feed her again, etc and all that feeding will serve to increase your milk supply!

What do you think?
