I started pumping and taking fenugreek to induce lactation prior to learning of these protocols. I would like to start over with the protocols. How long should I allow my breasts to "rest," if at all, before I begin taking prometrium and domperidone?

When I restarted the protocol the doctor I spoke with said to just drop the herbs and start taking bcp (prometrium for you). FYI the prometrium protocol never did anything for me so I went to an oral contraceptive for 3 months. I am going to start pumping again next week.

I agree. Just stop the fenugreek and start the prometrium or bcp's. I did the bcp's too, not the prometrium.
When is the baby due? Jennifer

Thanks for the advice ladies. The baby is due July 10th, so I have about 6 weeks now. Since the pumping without following the protocols had not produced significant milk (~a tbsp per pumping session), I am now switching to the protocols in hopes of producing enough milk in time.

Also, I will be taking Provera 2.5 and domperidone since I am over 40, and not prometrium. That was a typo.
Thanks again...

Good luck! I would probably try to stay on the provera and dom for 4 weeks and if you see breast changes, start pumping about 2 weeks ahead of due date. Jennifer

Hello Ladies,
Today is day 29 of taking Provera 2.5 and Dom. I am not sure if I have had "significant"-enough breast changes. My breasts did increase some, but not a full bra size. Also, I had some breast pain, especially the first couple of weeks, but it has decreased. This could be because I switched from pumping and fenugreek to the protocol. What do you suggest? Does it sound like I have had "significant"-enough breast changes?
I am considering continuing the protocol for another week before I start pumping. Our birth mother is due July 10th, but the baby hasn't dropped, nor is she showing any other signs of coming in the immediate future. So, what do you recommend?
Thanks!

I think continuing for another week could be okay. I was not one that pumped for long before our daughters were born. One was a stork drop, so I started pumping the day she was placed with us. The other I started pumping 10 days before she was born. Jennifer

I started pumping Saturday night, which was Day 37, so I made it just under 5 weeks. I started Saturday night because I was intimate with my partner and he admitted to not just tasting, but drinking milk.
Afterward, I pumped and was amazed to get over 10 mL from the first pumping. That first pumping spoiled me a little because my production reduced dramatically after that. I followed the pumping schedule as closely as I could, pumping every two hours and produced another 10 mL over the rest of the day (for ~20 mL the first day). Also, my milk was yellow and very thick.
For the two few days, pumping every 2-3 hours, I continued to produced just drops each pumping session. Last night, my partner suckled again and my milk production is up again this morning. I am back to producing mL, about 4-5 a session. He has only suckled when we were intimate, but it seems to have helped in increasing my output for when the baby comes.
I will continue to post my production as I continue to pump.
