Our surrogate is breasfeeding her 20 month old DD. Not all the time, but more like when she is fussy. So mostly in the evenings but nothing like when she was a lot younger. Now here is my question to you. We are using the clear blue easy fertility monitor. She gets peaks on the monitor. Now could it be possible that she peaks but never ovulates? Wondering if she should talk to her dr about Clomid or something like that. What do you think.??

Hi Robin,

Basically if she gets a period she's ovulating. And if she's peaking on the monitor, she's ovulating. In order to have a contraceptive effect the mother would have to be exclusively breastfeeding, her child on nothing but breastmilk, no bottles, no pacifiers, nothing but the breast. This is known as lactation amennoreah and is usually reliable for the first 6 months post partum.

Hope this helps. Fondly
