Hi everyone! You know it is nice to know that you are not the only one out there with problems. I have just had my third miscarriages, always ends up the same.. baby stops growing at 5 1/2 weeks and I don't miscarry till about 8 weeks.
I am not seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. I am having alot of test done, which almost seems kinda fast to me after just miscarring... like I need to slow down a little bit. I am going thru numerous blood test (as always) I had the lovely HSG which showed their was no obstructions and I also just had an endometrial biopsy. I find out on the 23rd what the reason is for the Recurrent Miscarriages... I have done Rezulin in 2000 and proceeded to get pregnant... ended up in miscarriage.. and then this year I was on Clomid. It only took one cycle of clomid for me to get pregnant... I my progesterone goes up really well then plummets my ob/gyn was shocked as to how fast it fell? Has anyone else had that problem?? I am curious as to what other options are out there.. I know this much that I will be doing another cycle of clomid, baby asprin and more than likey progesterone. I am apprehensive ...of course but we want a child.. could be nerves how is everyone doing on the progesterone?? I am just new to this and wondering... <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

Hi Bekki,
I was on progesterone suppositories numerous times with the IVF tx's et c...they did raise my blood surgar, and I even had to go on insulin for a while.
I have lost seven pregnancies, 3 uterine miscarriages, d/t a luteal phase defect (unknown at the time, otherwise I would have taken the progesterone ) and 4 ectopics... all pregnancies on my own,,,,with IVF no pregnancy.
My HCG levels actually took a long time to get down to zero after all my pregnancies, in fact with one of the ectopics, there was retained placental tissue in my abdominal cavity,,,it took months for my HCG to get down, they were about ready to put me on methotrexate,,which I did not want,,,
I know what you mean about the "lovely" HSG's, I had 3 of th em, thought I was going to die the first time, but the next two times I took pain meds ahead of time and that helped.
Good luck with trying again, I know it is hard...let us know how the tests all come out....take care, Cathy

Hi Bekki,

I'm so sorry for your losses. As a mother who lost 8 pregnancies to recurrent miscarriage I understand how devastated you must feel.

It sounds like you have a condition known as Luteal Phase Defect. This occures when the ovaries do not make adequate progesterone the first trimester. The placenta takes over the job from week 10 onwards but most RE's will keep you on the supplements until week 12 and monitor you afterwards. If you have a proven case of progesterone falling then it stands to reason that you need progesterone support. This is one of the most common reasons for miscarriages. The baby aspirin is also a good idea.

Have a look at the recurrent miscarriage section of this website and the article by Dr. Bick on this page http://www.asklenore.info/miscarriage/rcindex.html

Warmest regards,
