Hello,
I have had 2 miscarriages so far. The first time, the doc did not find a fetal heart beat during the 8th week scan, so she performed a D&C. The second time, my doctor saw me early, during 6 weeks. She said that the fetal pole is too small for 6 weeks and she said she detected a very faint heart beat, just to be sure, she asked me to come after 10 days for another ultra sound. When we went again, our hopes were really high, but we were devasted to find no cardiac activity.
Does any one have a similar experience? I read somewhere that the probability of miscarriage after seeing cardiac activity is 5%, but I still miscarried. Does any one know the reason for this? Iam currently getting a series of tests done, let us see how things go. Iam so desparate to have a baby.

Dear Anithat,

I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. The best person to speak to would be Lenore but unfortunately she's away on a family vacation aboard a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean and can't send or receive emails until Sept 8.

In the meantime, check out the recurrent miscarriage section of this website and pay particular attention to the comprehensive article by Dr. Roger Bick and his colleagues. The article outlines the most common reasons for recurrent miscarriage.

Start with this, I'm sure Lenore will have a thing or two to say when she returns home on Sunday. She can even put you in touch with Dr. Bick directly if you wish.

Please accept my most sincere sympathy dear.

Esther
