I know I've read several comments on the accompaning tiredness, but have any of you found anything to help?Lenore, you may recall I emailed you a while back about wanting to bf our adopted 12 month son,who has Down Syndrome. He is our 4th child--it's been 9 yrs and a hysterectomy later since I breastfed!I'm a little overwhelmed with how sleepy I am,and I still have a long way to go with this!!Thanks for any help........

Angie,
I was on domperidone and pumping alone for 5 weeks, very fatigued, and am now on Diane 35 and domperidone. I am still very faigued. I work 12 hour night shifts, and it can be very hard to stay awake. I have found that an hour or so after taking domperidone, when it seems to really kick in, I get very sleepy. I was initially using domperidone from Mexico, in a clear plastic bag (no foil wrap) (was at least one year old), I think this domperidone
was not good anymore since I had no side effects,,,then after I switched to the new foil wrapped domperidone from New Zealand and then started with the fatigue, increased hunger etc..and am noticing ever so slight breast changes. I wish I could tell you the fatigue gets better. It will be so worth it to make a good milk supply. Try to get as much sleep as possible (hard with a 12 month old!),,,and hang in there. It will only be for a short while. I look at the sleepiness as sort of a good thing, I think it means things are working like they should! Take care,
Cathy

Angie,
Hold on! Your body WILL get used to the domperidone. It may take a few weeks to get there. Try taking a nap when your 12 month old naps...every wink helps

Hi Angie,

Welcome to the Ask Lenore forums! I'm so happy you found us. It is quite common to feel fatigued at the beginning while your body becomes accustomed to the protocol. It is designed to mimic what happens during pregnancy. You should start to feel better soon and as Nona said, a cat nap here and there makes all the difference.

Hang in there.
Fondly,

Angie,

I was sooooooo tired while on the diane/dom combination. After a month and a half I even started taking less, hoping I would feel better, but I didn't. For me, the tireness went away shortly after I stopped taking the diane, maybe I ws just getting used to it? But, I'm still taking a full dose, feeding my baby about 1/4 supply and feeling MUCH better. My daughter is 10 weeks old and things are starting to feel normal again! Keep it up!
