CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You're doing very well.

Try and get hold of some vitamin k cream...that should help the bruising. When are you planning to stop the Fragmin?

Hi!
Thanks Lenore! I'll do that!
My doc says he'll induce me at 37th week & a day b4 that he'll put me on heparin not fragmin dunno why yet!
I didnt ask him about afterwards yet but he says I'll probably have to take it for some more time!
My baby girl doesnt move much right now & it scared me
but doc says at week 23 they cant do anything thats viable so will just have to wait it out!

I just want to get FAT with baby, not be able to see my feet & all that gies with it!
I want to enjoy this pregnancy but I get spooked easily!
I keep talking to my baby to let me have a chance to be her Mom & let her see growing up!

Thanks for the support I get here!

Hi There,

I'm so happy to hear that everything is going so well.

I'm a little concerned by your doctor's plan to keep you on the heparin so long and since the risk of miscarriage is no longer a threat after you deliver, there is no need to take it afterward...in fact, the common practice is to stop the fragmin or heparin during the last trimester. You may want to have a chat with Dr. Roger Bick about this ...he's the expert.

You can reach Dr. Bick as follows:
"MY MEDICAL WEBSITE IS http://www.thrombosis.net or more extensive is http://www.thrombosis.com

Patients can each me directly at rBick@thrombosis.com or 214-373-9350"

Rodger L. Bick, M.D., Ph.D., FACP
Clinical Professor of Medicine & Pathology
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
Director: Dallas Thrombosis Hemostasis Clinical Center

Please take advantage of this very important resource. And please keep me posted on what you decide to do.

Fondly,

Lenore Goldfarb, Ph.D.,CCC,IBCLC

Hi Lenore!
My doc said he'll put me on heparin 2-3 weeks b4 delivery & i'll not have heparin-fragmin after I deliver.
DO U think I should get a second opinion?
If yes then I'll take appointment with Dr Bick!

Thanks a LOT for ur help!

Hi D,

Please clarify. You are on the heparin now and will continue to be on the heparin until week 37? Then you will deliver. Then you will stop the heparin?

Hi Lenore,

My Dr. had my on the heparin until two days before my delivery, then I stopped completely but started up again a day after the delivery for another four weeks. She told me, as did Dr. Bick, that the risk of blood clots is really high after delivery as well, for a little while, but after a few weeks your risk returns to normal. Could this possibly be what D's dr. is doing as well? Just wondering.

Hi Lenore!
What barbi said is right!
I'm on fragmin right now but my doc will put me on heparin at week 37 then after delivery I'll again be put on heparin or fragmin coz the risk of clotting will be there! I sought second opinion & my doc & the other differ only in the amount of weeks one said 4 weeks other said 6 weeks after delivery
for now I'm sooooo out of places to inject the needle & blue that I bleed!

Is there any other place where I can put the injections? Other then thighs & belly?

Yes. I looked into this as well. It's a newer protocol. As for where to inject...well, there's always your butt.....
