I am trying to concieve my second baby. My daughter is now 6 months old and I am breastfeeding. I have had 4 regular cycles but this time it has been 36 days so far. I took a precnancy test today and it was negative. If I'm not pregnant why is this happening??? Does it lessen my chances of concieving net month??? Please help.

Hi Jackie,

Breastfeeding can affect your cycles. The higher than normal prolactin can affect the timing of your menses. Your cycles will most likely return to normal as soon as you start your daughter on complementary foods. She's six months old so you can start at any time if you haven't already begun.

Fondly,
