[color:"black"] [/color] Hi it's me again ,the frequent" questioner"!!I'm not very familiar with bc pills, and hope I haven't totally messed up.I'm doing the menopause protocol, and just finished my first pack of Diane 35.Was I supposed to take all the pills,or is there something about sugar pills?I know I sound like a ding a ling, but after I finished the pack,I vaguely remember reading something about the "empty"pills. Also, after having distinctive breast changes after 30 days, should I still hold off on starting to pump until 60 days?Lenore,I know you said it would be okay for me to go ahead and start putting Samuel back to the breast--but I'm not wanting to use the Lact-aid ,as I tried it before and he went balistic.I think if he was younger,it might have worked but at 13 months, just taking the breast is going to be a milestone!I'm also worries about once I stop the Diane will my menoausal symptoms return?I've been feeling so good lately,I don't know if I can deal with the hot flashes again!Let me know what you think of this....

Hi Angie,
Usually the Diane 35 comes in a pack of 21 "active" pills. Some pakes of DIane 35 contain 21 "active" pills and 7 "sugar" pills. The reason for this is for women who use the birth control pill for contraceptive purposes, to remember to take a pill every day while allowing them to have their menstral cycle.
Because you are taking the DIane 35 to develop the milk making apparatus in your breasts and not for contraception, the protocol call for you to take only the "active" pills non-stop, no sugar pills, no period. At the end of 21 days, you want to discard the sugar pills and go straight to another pack of Diane 35.
We suggested that you take the active pills for at least 60 days because you are menopausal. Most of the ladies who did the menopause protocol using Diane 35 and then breastfed, did not feel the need to resume their hormone replacement therapy. But every woman is different. The best thing is to see how you feel. We have ways of managing the symptoms of menopause in breastfeeding mothers without the need for HRT.
Ask all the questions you want. It helps a lot of other ladies who may be "lurking" and wondering the same thing. <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />
