Hi:
We just reached 25 weeks along. Our surrogate went in for a routine OB appt and they measured the baby's heartbeat at 120. But they checked the radiologist report from our 21-week u/s and said, sorry, no note of sex.

Our surrogate gained a few more pounds back which is good because she had lost 25 pounds during her first trimester.

All is well here. Thinking of baby.

sounds like a boy to me! I asked our surros doctor if it were true that girls heartbeats run higher than boys. He said yes. But that doesn't always mean it turns out that way. Miss Olivias heartbeat is 150-160. I bet its a boy!!!!!!!!!

I say boy also! Will you have an ultrasound to find out?

Hi:
We're at 26 weeks now.
The thing is, at our 21-week ultrasound the heartbeat was at 160. So it hasn't always been low. I don't know if she will get another ultrasound. She is a low risk pregnancy and the Navy does the minimal needed for good pre-natal care. The last ultrasound was to confirm that the placental position was okay. And it was.

So in a normal course of basic pre-natal care, would there be another reason for another ultrasound before she gives birth? Maybe to see the baby's position before delivery? If the baby is far along, can you still see the sex or is the little body in the way?

Might have a surprise for the birth! That would be fun.

Take care,

LD

I had an ultra sound on a Weds. and my son was born on that Saturday. We could see the sex with no problem and I was induced 2 weeks before the due date. They knew they wanted to induce and so did an ultrasound to make sure all my fluid levels were normal etc...
