Ladies,

Each day I am increasing, however not enough for a feeding or to freeze for later.

"L" will be 9 months in two weeks so hopefully I will produce more. I ordered my Lact-aid, it should be arriving soon.

What type of formula should I use ( in the Lact-aid) to supplement with my breast milk ?

Lastly how much oatmeal should I eat a day to increase my supply ? Right now I just eat it for breakfast.

Yasta,
Im glad to hear you are doing good. I am also only eating oatmeal for breakfast. As for the formula I wouldnt be much help. I nursed my bio daugher and never bought formula. I will probably use Carnation DHA (i think thats what it is). I would love to hear what others have to say about formula as well.

I've heard Carnation (owned by Nestle) has really aggressive marketing strategies to third world countries. It is also lumpy. I like Enfamil DHA/ARA because it mixes the smoothest/with the least lumps, which helps for smooth feeding with the Lact-Aid.

One tip to keep your formula strainer nice and clean is to boil it with a little vinegar in the water. Also, get a mesh cover for your sink drain or you are likely to lose it down the drain it is so tiny. I got a great mesh drain cover that is from Japan (bought it in Hawaii) though since you are in Japan I'm sure you can find one there. For anyone else needing one, in the US Long's Drugstores also carries a good mesh drain cover for only a couple of dollars. I also have saved myself losing the little white phalange from the PIS with this cover. It is a good thing.

Good luck!

Christina

I used WalMarts brand, made by same company as Similac I believe. There are only a couple formula makers so read the back of the can and it will tell you the company. I can't think right now what their names are. (Ross Laboratories is one) But after that formula I switched to Carnation Good Start because my daughter was getting so constipated and needed something easier to digest. I got that recommendation from an LC but that was almost 4 years ago.

The Wal-Mart brand had a recall for a bacteria that caused meningitis ... Ross makes a bunch of store brand labeled formulas that were also recalled ... as I "recall" the formula was manufactured in June, July and August of 2002. Just be sure to check for a recall of whatever you use. You can check for recalls here: US Consumer Product Safety Commission

That is good info Christina. I used it back in 2000. Thankfully we were able to get away from formula after awhile.
