well as you ladies know .. it has been a roller coaster ride. I thought it would be nice to kind of make "Journal" about our experiences on the way. As you know we were matched. Then it fell through. Again the match was on again. Well as it turns out our lawyers said nada!. So our search was on again. I will tell you.. its a very emotional roller coaster ride. You really go through a lot of emotions. Depression becomes your close friend at times. Well we prayed about it. And asked the Lord to send the right one. And it looks as though its going to work this time. A surrogate contacted me who is only 1 1/2 hours away from us! I know the Lord is in this one. The first lawyer I called in her town about representing her does surrogacy. And will represent her for 50.00. Yes you heard that right 50.00. I almost fell out of my chair with this one. . So hubby goes this week for his tests.. And we should be signing contracts in a few weeks. She wants to do January insems. But I think it will probably be Febuary. Its amazing how well things go when its all right. Lenore has been a fantastic support system for me. Her and I had not talked in quite a while. So I emailed her. She was there during the highs and the lows. She picked up like we had never stopped talking daily. She is fantastic! Well I wanted to update you. If this falls through for some reason I will let you know.. or give you good updates . The hardest part for me was talking to so many surrogates. I found out it is about normal to go through atleast 20 before you get to the right one. This is definetly not for the weak at heart. . I licked my wounds many times.. Lenore can vouche for that . I am also right at 3 months on the protocol. My breasts really kill me. If I roll over at night they wake me up. But this is all good. Hopefully I will have a full supply for our little one. I fully expect to start pumping about 3 to 4 months before the baby is due. And if I respond well to the pump and have plenty of milk. I will donate it out with my donation program. So I have it all planned out. . Hope the bubble doesn't burst again. But if it does. Its part of the trade of surrogacy. I will pick up and go on again. So thats where we are right now. Let you know more if its good or bad.
hugs to all
Nona

Well we met our surrogate saturday. She is so funny. Actually she is mouthy like me . We had fantastic time. We met her husband and daughter as well. Things are looking great. We go to the lawyer thurdsay for the contracts.. and hope to start inseminations Febuary. And a bit of more news. We have been told about baby to adopt. The birth mother asked for us to adopt it. So IF the adoption works as well. My babies will be 3 to 4 months apart. The adoptive one being born first. I wanted to give an update.. I have been so busy with all of this!
Hugs to all Nona

Well ... we did insems again.. We did 5 days worth of fresh ones. She surged 4 days ago. And started bleeding heavy again last night. She bleed like this on surge days last month. I have no idea what is going on ughhh. I told her she needs to go to the doctor. So I guess this means it didn't take again this month. I hope this isn't a bad sign for us.

Nona,
I agree she needs to go to the Doc and see whats going on, it totally does not make sense that she is bleeding after the LH surge which indicates ovulation is close. I am sorry it is not working yet. Are you still adopting the newborn?

Well actually.. I could not take being on the bcps anymore. I was on them 5 1/2 months. I stopped 2 weeks ago. I pumped for 5 days before I saw my first milk. In a week and half I am pumping 2 ounces a day. It felt great to get off of the pills and the zoloft to .

Nona,
I know what you mean about wanting to get off them.. On April 12th I will run out of Yasmin and will probably not order any more,,,it will be almost six months by then. Our paperwork/dossier is still being tied up at the Guatemalan Embassy, but if we get it back soon, we will get our referral shortly after that.
Congratulations on the 2 ounces a day! Take care, Cathy

Well Ladies,
We are starting our surrogacy journey again. We have a surrogate in Washington . I ordered my shippers and TYB today. Since we will have to ship the sample through the mail. We should start next month! Wish us luck this time.

Nona,
After our Guatemalan baby is home and settled in, we are thinking about a surrogate, but will not be able to afford the 60 grand the agencies charge. I hope you will be able to help us find one (TS), you seem to know sooo many. I hope it all works out for you, I am sure this is THE one! take care, Cathy

Oh yes I can help you find a surrogate.. I know many that ask from 5,000 to experienced TS who get up to 25,000 and everything in between.

Thanks Lenore! Well we should be inseming in the next 10 days. Still have a chance on the baby to be born next month as well. But I don't hold out much hope for that. The grandmother is pretty persistant on getting it. But if it turns out we do. .We will just have 2 little ones running around the surro baby and adopted one. But I believe we will just have the surrogate one. Our surrogate is so sweet. We plan on flying up when she is about 4 1/2 months for a visit. Then again at the birth. She has to have c-sections.. so we will know when its to be born. She has really regular cyles to. So hopefully it won't take long to get preggo.

Hey Nona,
Good luck..I am sure it will work soon! We missed the international cutoff time today at the airport by one minute..turns out it was for the best...oiur facilitator called after we left for the airport and said they think the Embassy in Guatemala is not starting any new cases after today and of course our case was to start tomorrow...so, now all travel plans are on hold and we may not even be able to get Ana or do any adoption for a long time in Guatemala...it seems very fishy in that the day after we send in the 2nd nonrefundable installment of 8500 dollars, that we get this news. Hmmmm.
See why we don't trust anyone is the whole adoption business? I am too upset to even think straight right now,, seems silly, but we had bonded wth the photo and think of her as our daughter already. What would have happened if I got on that plane? She said the police are stopping adoptive women and foster moms on the street and if I had gone down (and not received her message yet) then...I would have to stay in the hotel room and not go outside for the whole trip...sounds just like Peru all over again...now what do we do? I guess just wait and see what happens with the Embassy tomorrow. What a bad day....Cathy

Hi,
Thanks everyone,,,I think we may have Nona help us to find a surrogate also...I don't know how much more of this adoption business I can take,,,,Now the latest is that even if we put her in an orphanage, we may still not ever be able to have her assigned to us, as now the government of Guatemala will assign all kids. Turns out on a website call
"ethica" there have been warnings about Guatemala since April...which I did not see, nor did our facilitator tell us about it.
We will know more on Monday, in the mean time, she is getting older each day and being bottle fed. If we don' t get good news on Monday (like we can go and travel down etc and adoptions will still be processed)...I am afraid she will never latch , she is already 10 days old... We may keep trying for her, but start with surrogacy also. Thanks Nona, I will e-mail you and get your input...Cathy

Another POSSIBLE situation might be coming our way.If we get the baby.. it will be a very happy open adoption. Please pray for the Family of this baby. This can never be an easy decision.

Dear Friends,

I know a little about the situation with both Nona and Cathy. Please pray for both of them. In Nona's case the adoption may be very soon, and a very sad story may have a happy ending for all concerned. The family has a monumental decision to face but I'm sure that all would agree that placing this baby with Nona will be one of the best decisions they can make.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone waiting for their babies or deciding to place them.

Fondly,

Thanks Lenore,
I cried all day yesterday, still can't believe that ethically, this woman matched us wtih a beautiful baby girl, knowing what the situation would be like in just a few days after her birth.
And, we feel really stupid for trusting her and giving her so much money,,we feel that we should have somehow known that Guatemala was going to be in a total mess starting July 1st,,,we are just too trusting....we are grasping at straws to try to see if we can somehow put our Ana in an orphanage and still get her out of the country that way. They are no longer allowing private foster care, even though it is way better for the babies and kids.
So, far, between the first adoption in Peru, the IVF attempts and what we have put into this second adoption, we have spent around $86,000. Hard to imagine..how many long 12 hour shifts I have had to work to pay for this,,,I am so glad we have our son, from Peru, although he is extremely demanding, we don't know what we would do without him.
Thanks Lenore, I am sure glad everything has worked out so well for you,,,and Nona,,,I am thinking good thoughts about you and your surrogate and the adoption also. Take care, Cathy

I will be sending prayers your way. Having worked with birthmothers through our adoption agency I am of the opinion that in most cases it is best for the girl and all involved to make an adoption plan. The girls and I stronlgy believe their families too need to take a look at what is truley best for the baby. May this family in their wisdom and through the guidance of God feel and know in their hearts what is treuly best for the baby.

Hoping that soon you hear some good news,
Bella

Cathy,
My prayers I will continue to send your way. There has to be a rainbow coming your way after all the rain. Hang in there. Thank you for inspiring me to keep on going.

Take Care,
Bella

Thanks Bella,
After two years of trying to adopt a second child, some people at work think I am crazy/over the edge. I tell them that I am determined to have a sibling for our son. I also missed out on so much of his babyhood, in Peru, I would love to experience a baby again. We will all get them soon!
Nona, any news on if the grandmother will parent the baby or not?
Take care.
Cathy

this is not the baby I have been speaking of. Yes the Grandmother is going to parent that baby girl. This is another baby girl I have recieved a picture of. Lenore knows about her and her situation. She is beautiful! Now I have to wait for the decision. And if you knew the story.. you would understand its not an easy one for the family.

actually I have a 20 cubic foot commercial freezer that has only a 3 foot space left in it! It is crammed full! I told Lenore.. I think I will finish filling it up and then go back on the protocol. Not that I need to . But I don't think I want to pump for another 10 months or so ughhh. I have been pumping for 5 and thats enough!

Nona,
Three times is a charm and I hope that soon you will have some good news for all of us. I do not blame you for wanting to go on the protocol again

I have actually been thinking about doing that if we do not get a placement soon. Would I produce more if I were to do the protocol again? This has been the first time that I have done anything with breastfeeding. So would I do better doing the protocol again because it would be a second time around for me. Just curious. Though yesterday I pump 17 1/2 ozs so that does encourage me. What are your thoughts?

Good Luck,
Bella

Hi Nona,
Good luck with the insem's...Bella,,,if you are tired of pumping I would say go back on the protocol,,or just use your frozen milk with the Lact-aid and start domperidone again once you have the baby...take care ,,Cathy

Well our surrogate is 3 months today! . She is so great. We go visit them about twice a month. She is starting to pooch now lol. We should hear the heartbeat at our appointment this month. We are hoping we can get them to do an ultrasound to.

Well Ladies.. our surrogate is 23 weeks today.. One more week and she will be 6 months. We still do not know what the baby is. It is not cooperating with the ultrasound. But they are going to try to find out again on the 16th. I am so extremely happy. Now ... I need to know what it is! Need to get the boy or girl stuff ready. She sent me belly shots and I about fell out of my chair! She is really got a nice round belly now

Wow, Nona this is so exciting! Are your other children boys or girls? Oooh you get to buy all those cute little outfits I see in the stores all the time. Boys are fun but face it their clothes just aren't quite as cute as girl clothes.

our surro will be 7 months on Saturday! I am getting butterflies in my tummy . We have waited so long for this. And I wanted to give a public thank you to my dear friend Lenore. She has been a close and dear friend to me for about 3 years now. And she has been there for me every step of the way.Through all my ups and downs I love her dearly

Our surrogacy has come full circle now. Miss Olivia is 3 weeks old. Still in preemie clothes. A tiny little thing. But breastfed and happy. Here is a pic I took today

Christina,
Thanks for asking! I have not been the most consistant on breastfeeding only. There has been a few times a day that my daughter gets a bottle and when I nursed her I followed up with a bottle. I haven't used the lact-aid much. I know I need to. But her latch is not good with the unit. Yesterday I only suplimented her 10 ounces in 24 hours. The rest she got from me! Today she has been attached to the breast most of the day... literally. So I am anxious to see if my supply goes up more. I must say I am surprised. I was only pumping 4 ounces a day.
