Well, much to my surprise I took a pg test over the weekend and it came up positive. Luckily, I already had an appt. with a perinatologist for a consult. I explained that I just had our third m/c at the end of Aug. and that I was pg again. He was very understanding. He said I had three options 1. I could start heparin and baby aspirin 2. I could take some more tests to check for blood clotting disorders ( I guess there are a few more I haven't been checked for) and then I they were +ive I could start heparin and aspirin 3. Do nothing. He said he was not a big fan of option #3. He thinks after 2 live births and now 3 m/c in a row one at 11 weeks, 19 weeks, 10 1/2 weeks after normal ultrasounds of the babies, that we should really consider taking the Heparin because at this point it couldn't hurt. I went ahead and went to the lab and took the tests. I started baby aspirin last night. He said I would start the Heparin once the pregnancy was established. I supposed to call him next Wed. to get the results and then decide if we are going to start heparin. Any advice would be great! I am really concerned about how the Heparin will affect my body long term and short term. I just want to thank you in advance for all your support and advice that you have given me throughout the year.

Hi Michelle,
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Now do yourself a big favor and start the heparin ASAP. Your baby's life may depend on it. Heparin does the most good the earlier you take it. It's not a great idea to wait for your pregnancy to be "established" that will be too late. You can consider stopping the heparin at around 16 weeks gestation according to Dr. Roger Bick. And actually Fragmin, which is refined heparin, causes the least amount of side effects and is not as hard on your body.

Warmest regards,

Thank you so much Lenore for your advice. I really trust your opinion. My labs all came back normal. But, I've decided to go ahead and use Heparin anyways. I will start the Heparin tomorrow. I will talk to him about using Fragmin.
Thanks!!
