I can not express to all of you how wonderful this is .. To know that im going to breast feed our son. Even if its a little of my own milk and someone elses.. Thank you all for your support.

Ok girls, Yesterday i got 9 ounces....YEA allthough, my nipples are very sore!!! I have noticed a slow down with my milk production. I was increasing about 3/4 ounce a day and then it stoped.... It hurts very bad when i first start pumping. Nona has made some suggestions like starting of on a very slow setting... that helped for a minute, and the cream which helps. Things are bad... I am starting to dred pumping, when i first start pumping i grit my teeth.. after about 5 min. it let's up. I'm probable not pumping as much as i should be... Does anybody have any idea's

Hi Angie,

Make sure that your nipples are very well centered in the pumping attachment. You can lubricate them with Lansinoh or Purlan beforehand. Centered nipples should not hurt. It may also be that you might need the large sized attachments. You can get them from the place you got your pump. If it's Medela then go to www.medela.com

Warmest regards,

WOW it sounds like you are doing great!! I was on the protocol for just a short time also and ended up making a full supply by the time my daughter was born. She is 6 1/2 months old now and would rather nurse then do anything else. I know what you mean about pumping hurting. I dreaded it every time. Let me tell you though it does get better. It seems to take a while but it does. keep up the great work. And CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Well i am know getting 10 ounces. It hurts so bad some times that i feel that my milk supply is hendered . It can really make your toes curl.. Has anybody else had this problem?

We are very excited the baby will be here with in the next 4 weeks.. It is so hard to believe.

Julie i really hope it gets better, i dred it when it is time to pump any more. My milk supply was increasing on a regular base. and know it is just standing still is this normal? I have been doing the massage and jiggle thing.. It does not help a whole lot. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know!!
Thanks for the support

Hi Angie,

You're doing great!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

You might benefit from a visit with an international board certified lactation consultant to see what the story is with your pumping. You can find one here www.iblce.org Just click on the "About IBLCE" button and the US and International registries appear.

At this point you can try pumping for 20-30 min straight without a break and see if that helps to increase your milk supply. But really, first get hold of an IBCLC to make sure everything is fitting properly. You don't want to damage your breasts before your baby arrives.

Warmest regards,

Angie,
You need to register girl! I talked to Angie on the phone last night. She has thrush! Thats what has caused her so much pain. She stays red and in pain. So now hopefully she will be on her way to recovery.
