Can anyone help me understand my pathology report?

I have been left with no answers to my missed miscarriage at 16 weeks. The baby was the size of 14w 4d. The specimen from the baby did not proliferate so no chromosome analysis could be done. But this is what was said about the placenta...

An immature placenta and fragments of decidua and partially necrotic blood clots showing a dusky brown to hemorrhagic color. The umbilical cord is attached slightly off center. The maternal surface is covered by fibrinous pale yello-brown material. On sectioning, the placental tissue is tan-pink and granular.

Is what is described above normal after a missed miscarriage and induced labor??

Thank you for any help,
Becky

Hi Becky,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. As a mother who lost 8 pregnancies to miscarriage I understand how devastated you must feel.

I am not a doctor but I can see from the pathology report that blood clotting may have been a factor in this loss. Here is an article by Dr. Roger Bick that advocates the use of low dose heparin together with baby aspirin to help pregnancies to continue. http://www.asklenore.info/miscarriage/print/bickp.html

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Warmest regards,
