Have a question for you....... I have been pumping since April and I have pretty much dwindled down to 2-3 pumpings a day getting 1 ounce from each breast each time pumping. Taking only 4 dom a day.........nothing else........ here is my question to you think if I got back on the bcp and quit pumping and took that for a couple months that the next time I got off the bcp and started pumping that it would increase the milk production? We are still no closer to a baby and I am starting to become down about pumping...... before it felt like I was actually doing something twoards my adoption but now it is becoming a HUGE chore......... Do you think it would help increase the milk or do you think it wouldnt really matter one way or the other?

I know once we get notice of a baby that I will increase the sessions of pumping, increase the dom and start the fenugreek and blessed thistle but for now I am kinda down on it all and I thought heck if it would help I would go back on the bcp.

Thanks for all your help!!

Shelly,
I don't see that it would hurt one bit. As we are about to do another surrogacy. I am still nursing Olivia with a lact-aid and am back on the protocol to increase my milk volume this next time. To my way of seeing it... it can only build more milk making tissues...

Hi Shelley,

I hear ya. I've been pumping off and on for 21 months because Ethan is still receiving breastmilk and I'm often away at graduate school. It's quite the sight me sitting there pumping as my professors and fellow learners make their presentations. I'm down to 3-4 pumpings per day, my milk supply is slowly decreasing but whenever Ethan wants to breastfeed when I'm home, I'm available to him.

It's much harder to keep up the pumping grind when a baby is not in sight. The good news is that you know you can do this. So yes, if you want to stop pumping and go back on the bcp, by all means go ahead.

Best,

Hi Shelley:
I, too, am in the big waiting period to be matched to a birthmother. I am staying on the protocol until we are matched, then I'll go off and start pumping. If it means being on a lact-aid at first, that's okay. I will probably need a lact-aid anyway until my supply comes in.

My last attempt (failed adoption), I pumped for one month before the baby was born. Once the baby was here (in the NICU), my breasts stepped up production. It was a combination of intensive effort = 7 x''s per day and 1 x in the middle of the night = and the psychological aspect of having baby here and needing the milk.

I hope to follow the same pattern this time.

Like you, I know now that my body will produce the milk. And I can't wait to enjoy the breastfeeding experience with my new little one.

Good luck on your transition back to the protocol.
I'm right here with you.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Ok we are possibly going to be getting a baby in October via an orphanage. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> It will be either Oct/Nov some time.. The baby will be most likely under 2 mos old. Ok here is my question....... I have dropped alot of my pumping only pumping from 1-3 times a day depending on any given day the # of pumpings.. I am dwindling in milk production BIG time..... I used to get full...... now I rarely if ever get full.....

Should I go on the BC pills for a month or two then get off and start pumping like crazy or should I go on for 2 mos or what? If you recall I had great production before when I first got off the pills and within days I was pumping at least 1 oz out of each side. So I need some advice.....

Do I just start uping the dosage of Dom and pump more now or do I stop pumping go on the pill for a month or two and then pump like crazy and increase dom and herbs?? I think my breast tissue has really gone down or something, I really am not getting the feelings like I used to.......

Thanks for the help girls!! You are truely the best!!

if you had great production the first time. I would stop the BCPs and up your pumpings.. Get back up to your maximum Domperidone dose. And I would pump every 2 1/2 hours and one time during the night. You need this time to pump!

Nona, I have been off the BC pills for about 5 months I was wondering about going back on them for a couple months? Do you think I should not go back on them and just pump?

Sorry for the confusion!

Oh I am sorry.. No if you had a good response before.. and your expecting a baby hopefully in about 2 months. I would up the pumping and domperidone. How much would you say you were pumping a day before? All together?

Congratulations! You have a baby in sight. Let us know how you do with the increased dom and pumping. Are you able to go back to 8 x's a day or so? And 20 mg Dom 4x's per day? I know that is a big change in your routine. I was able to maintain it for one month before the baby was born and then one month afterwards when the adoption was in question. So two months was do-able for me, but I don't think I could have kept it up much longer.

Hope all works out well for you and you are a Mom real soon,
Good luck,

NO problem!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I was only pumping 4 times a day morning, noon, afternoon and evening...... I was getting about 1 + ounce out of each breast and I was only taking 4 dom. That is it..... Nothing more...... So I guess I better start kicking it in gear...... I am going to wait to start the 8 times a day for another 2 weeks b/c I want to make sure everything is final for the adoption........ Then I will increase pumpings, dom and herbs!!! haa haa <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thans for alll the wonderful advice!! I will keep you posted!
