I have a 13yo and an 8you conceived on the first "try." I also have a 14mo still breastfeeding. I have been trying for number four for the last 4mos. I have been pregnant and had very early miscarriages both times. The second was at 6 weeks and I am waiting for my first normal cycle after that. Prior to the miscarriages my luteal phase was quite short - the only non-pregnant cycle I have had was 8 days. My ob is blaming all of this on the "old eggs" but I am thinking that it is sounding much more like inadequate progesterone. I didn't get any genetic testing on the miscarriages but I will if it happens again. What do you think?

Hi Karen,

I'm so sorry for your loss. As a mother who lost 8 pregnancies to recurrent miscarriage before my son's were born I understand how devastated you must feel. I was 38 and 41 when my eggs were retrieved for my babies. In both cases our gestational surrogates were older than 35. They received progesterone support. Why not ask your doctor for progesterone support? It can take the form of vaginal suppositories, oral lozenges or injection. Many mothers also take a baby aspirin per day. It's best to discuss this with your doctor and explain that you would feel more comfortable with progesterone support.

Best,
