I was on the regular protocol for 4 months and started pumping 3 weeks ago. In addition to the domp, I am taking fenugreek, but not blessed thistle. The first week my supply increased from drops to about 2-3 ounces/day, but for the past week and a half I have been stuck at 3-4 oz/day, with no increase. I am using a Medela Symphony pump, and pump 7x/day, including once in the middle of the night -- by far my least productive session of the day. Also, I have noticed that my supply n the right side accounts for about 3/4 of the total -- my left side's supply has really decreased over the past week.
Babies (twins) should be here in 1-2 weeks and I am feeling frustrated and dooubtful that I will be able to provide much breast milk for them. I have a LactAid, but I was also hoping to see my supply continue to go up! Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

JD how much of the dom and Fenugreek are you taking? Is there anyway to add the Blessed Thistle? Also are you making sure to stay hydrated? This is really important. Drink to thirst. If you are thirsty you maybe borderline dehydrated. Eating oatmeal once a day helps with supply too. Keep in mind that just a little bit of breastmilk goes a long way in the immunity area. Also breastfeeding is about so much more than just the milk. Hang in there.

I also wanted to add that using the lact-aid and getting those babies on the breast is going to dramatically help your supply. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks, Lalle. I am taking 80 mg of domp/day + 3 caps of fenugreek 3x/day (couldn't find blessed thistle and have no stomach isssues on fenugreek, so I haven't gotten around to getting it yet. I thought it was mainly to ease stomach issues caused by fenugreek - ?). I am also trying to eat oatmeal several times a week and drink a lot, but we'll see.....Hopefully my supply will continue to increase in the next couple of weeks.

Look here http://www.asklenore.info/breastfeeding/herbs.htmlit is my understanding that it isn't only to soothe stomach upset. Blessed thistle is actually helpful to the milk supply as well. I did a google search and many of the sites mention something about milk production. I do know that the protocol is best done with all components in place. You can order Blessed Thistle online if you can' t find it local. I would suggest adding it and see if it helps. It sounds like you are doing everything else like you should be. I am sure things will pick up too when you start nursing those little babes.
