I have been breastfeeding for a year and am weaning the baby off. I woke up this morning and at the end of my nipple the skin was white underneath (like milk). It is sore. Could this be a blocked duct? [color:"blue"] [/color]

Hi Jenn,

What you describe sounds like a "bleb" which is a type of blocked duct. You can try soaking it in a big bowl of hot water (don't burn yourself!) and 2 tablespoons of Epson salts. Soak for about 10 mintues every hour or so all day and rince. Hopefully it will open when baby nurses but if it doesn't, please see your doctor so that it can be gently opened.

Best,
