I have a six-week-old adopted daughter. I started nursing her with a lact-aid at 4 days old, but then I didn't have a lot of support from my family to keep using it. Now at six weeks I have decided to go all out and try to breastfeed and bring in a milk supply, but my baby isn't appreciating the breast like she did at first. I think she had too many bottles. Do you think I should still keep trying? She's very fussy if she has to latch and use the lactaid. I have a hard time getting the tube in her mouth along with a good latch. Is there hope for us?

Will she latch without the tube? You can always try to latch her first and then slip the tube into the corner of her mouth.
Yes, you should definitely keep trying. She is still young enough to go back to nursing alone. What are you doing to bring in your supply?

The best advice I can give you is to contact a board certified lactation consultant to help you with the Lact-aid. It's tricky at first but once you know how, it gets easier and easier.
