Hi, I'm new here-- Just stopped breast feeding my bio-baby 8 months ago, and am expecting to adopt her baby sister from China sometime this winter. My question is this: Anyone have experience with induced lactation with a Mirena IUD in place? It has low levels of Progesterone in it. I can add birth control pills on top of it with no problem, but I'm worried that the continued Progesterone after stopping the pill will interfere with lactation. Any ideas? (As much as I want to breastfeed this baby, I'm not sure I'm willing to give up my Mirena!) Thanks!

I was told not to have Mirena when breastfeeding as it increases your chance of perferating your fallopian tubes.

I have no idea about that one. But I know the hormones can and dry up your milk supply. And if your induced lactation.. most likely will.

I had a mirena IUD in place...I was not producing much milk with the pumping sessions. Lenore suggested I get it out. I did so...and had no increase in production. It was very disappointing as I had a good 3 years of usage left with the IUD. I was very, very committed to the protocol for 10 months and nothing seemed to help get my supply up including getting the IUD out..
