hello. we are almost "in the books" for adoption, and i am wanting to bf. i've talked to a couple of dr's who think i am just nuts, so i am hoping to do this on my own.
i can't say for sure how long i'll have to build up a supply, maybe 6 mos at least? so should i be taking the diane or another bcp? also just wondering where i can order the domp and the bcps w/o a Rx? thank you very much

Hi Robin,

Welcome to the ask Lenore website!! I'm not Lenore but I wanted to let you know that it is possible to bring in a very good milk supply. In fact, if you have 6 months, you can probably bring in a full milk supply just like I did.

You can find the guide to the milk making protocols that Lenore co-wrote with Dr. Newman here: http://www.asklenore.info/breastfeeding/induced_lactation/gn_protocols.html

It's quite a bit of reading but will give you an idea of most everything you'll need to get started. You'll find the information on the meds there too. By the way, most of the places that carry domperidone also carry the Diane 35.

And you can always ask Lenore, and email her. She's really great at getting back to moms and giving one to one support. I don't know what I would have done without her.

I was able to breastfeed my daughter with a full milk supply from birth. If you want to do it too you can. You'll need to be committed and willing to trust the process. It's the waiting time on the meds before you can pump and see milk that can be stressful. But if you can just hold on and believe in yourself and your breasts, you will have a great result.

Esther
