this is a breastfeeding website. We don't know anything about liver transplants. Sorry!

Although this is a breastfeeding and infertility website, I understand the need to find information wherever and whenever you can find it when a loved one's life is at stake. So I'll make an exception in this case.

Most likely, and I'm only guessing here, it's quite possible that this all started with undetected hepatitis A or B. My friend's mother died of the disease, a nice Italian lady, no history of smoking or drinking, a devote Catholic, turns out she had a history of hepatitis B. Liver disease can strike anyone. The best person to ask about whether or not your cousin is eligible for a transplant would be a liver specialist in your area.

Here is a website that may help you. http://www.umm.edu/transplant/liver/indliver.html

You may want to contact them and ask for a referal to a specialist or hospital near you who handles these situations and is involved in the selction process for determining recipients.

My thoughts and prayers are with you dear.

Warmest regards,
