I am adopting a baby girl due Aug 20th, by sister is bmom, I am inducing lactation and must say I'm doing fairly well...I called the hospital today to try to talk to a social worker or someone related to "baby care" in L & D....well, the lady I spoke with was totally unaware of ABF altogether, basically she said that I could pump my milk and bring it to the hospital and they could feed the baby with my milk by bottle....I told her that I didn't want baby fed by bottle AT ALL!! Bmom agrees with this, but what can the hospital do if Bmom and I agree? Legally the baby isn't mine until 48 hrs after the birth, so during the hospital stay, my sister is legal guardian, so she should be able to make that decision, right? Please, I need some advice!!
Thanks

Jenn, I would find out if they have a lactation consultant on staff to advocate for you. But, yes if your sister gives the okay for you to nurse then it is okay. They cannot make you do anything (bottles) that you don't want to do.

Thanks!! I spoke to the hospital's social worker yesterday and she was very helpful, she told us to come up with a "birth plan", type it up, have bmom sign it and we should be fine!!
Only 36 days till she is due!!
Thanks
Jenn
