Hi!
I'm a newbie! This seems to be a great site and forum.
I've been recently diagnosed with several clotting problems, and after much consulation and testing received the green light to try and conceive yet again. (will have to have injections through pregnancy and post-partum).

I had two previous pregnancies and healthy deliveries, and was diagnosed after having my two girls.
My fear and anxiety is "what can go wrong!"! Should I stop while I'm ahead (my mom's words!)?

Anyone else out there that has had similar issues and advice?
I'm so overly concerned about what could happen that I'm afraid to get pregnant, even though that's our dream!
Does this make any sense?!?!
Thanks for listening!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Jen, were your clotting issues after delivery? If so were you induced? I ask because I had issues after my first son and my Mom said the same thing. I hemorraged after birth and then passed huge clots. They were very worried for me and had me on all kinds of meds. The thing I found out later is that it is common practice to pull on the placenta to get it to come out quicker. THAT can cause major bleeding problems. If this could be your issue make sure that they do not force your placenta delivery to go faster than your body's normal time frame. If you can give more detail to what your clotting issues are I am sure that the ladies here can give helpful advice.
Welcome to the Board.

PS My other two births did not have any bleeding issues,

Hi, Lalle!
Thanks for your message.
My clotting disorders were discovered 2 1/2 years after both babies had healthy deliveries. It was one of those accidental findings when looking for other illnesses.
I'm just concerned about what would happen if I had a third pregnancy, knowing what I know now!!
Congrats on your three!
Hope to hear from any others with some experience or knowledge to ease my anxiety!
Best to all,
jen

So are you talking Heparin injections? There are quite a few ladies here who have done injections through out their pregnancies and after delivery. I am sure someone else will interject. This BB can be kind of slow at times since most of us have small children many don't get on here to check everyday.

Hi Jen,

Clotting issues can mean that all you do is take a baby aspirin plus daily heparin injections until about 16 weeks of pregnancy when the placental vessels are well formed. There is a wonderful article on this site about clotting issues (antiphospholipid syndrome) by Dr. Roger Bick. You can find it here: http://www.asklenore.info/miscarriage/bick/bickintro.html

This article is primarily about recurrent miscarriage but it explains why baby aspirin and heparin are used.

Hope this helps. Fondly,
