My husband and I are adopting through our local Social Services Department. We recently received our Foster Licensing. We are waiting for a relinquishment, so, there is no telling how long it will be. It may be 9 months, 9 days or 9 hours. Only God knows that answer. But, because I cannot have any children naturally and miscarrying 7 times (twice with twins), we both feel VERY strongly about BF this child when he arrives. Problem is, we have NO IDEA when that will be. So, I did some research online before I found this website or Dr. Newman's website and started the Blessed Thistle and Fenugreek 3 tabs 3X/day. I also am drinking Mother's Milk Tea and an Herbal Fenugreek/Blessed Thistle/Alfalfa loose tea mixture. Then, someone told me about the Global website and I ordered the domperidone. Got those in and started taking 1 pill every 6 hours on the 16th of May. I am also pumping twice a day. I was taking the herbs for 2 weeks before the Domperidone came and was having huge results of swelling & soreness. Once I started the domperidone, it was like it reduced the swelling and soreness. I am only taking 10mg every 6 hours. Starting about 4 days ago when I pump, I get this waxy dot at the tip of my right breast while pumping. A couple of times, there was a moisture dot that was sort of clear yellow, but, mostly it is that waxy/pearly/plug sort of substance at the tip of only my right nipple. When I finally found Dr. Newman's website and read the "protocols", I realized that I have not been taking this "Yasmin." I emailed Dr. Newman and he told me that I needed to increase to 20 mg of the Dom 4 x/day. So, right now, I am taking Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle 3 tabs, 3 times per day, Domperidone 10 mg 4 times a day (every 6 hours) and drinking the heck out of my tea. I am pumping twice a day. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and not seeing anything except that little pearly plug at the tip and there is not any soreness anymore. What do I need to do. It seems like I started on my own regimen in the beginning and not sure what to do now to get straight and on the right path...HELP!

Hi there!!! I love your name! I have a boxer and a boxer mix, too. Best dogs in the world!!! Unless you mean your husband is a boxer (the sport! LOL!).

I am truly sorry for your losses. I have been pg 3 times, but like you, have lost all pregnancies very early on. Adoption was my calling in life and I now know that 3 years of IUI's and IVF is what led me to my 2 beautiful daughters!! We also adopted through the CA foster care system and had amazing luck (2 infants within an 11 mo. period!).

Definitely get on the yasmin. Before I took the meds, all I did was exactly what you did and included pumping. All I ever saw was was I have heard referred to as "sludge". It's a clear/yellowish liquid. Some of the more experienced women here might be able to help you out and explain what that is.

I was a skeptic, but got my fertility doc (of all people!) to write me a rx for the Yasmin, ordered my dom from Global, and VOILA!! 2 months later with pumping I am now collecting a LOT of breastmilk throughout the day. I am using 50 unit lupron needles to collect it from the cone and horn of the breastpump. In fact, today I reached an all time high of 250 units plus one IM needle to the 1 mark (1cc?). Anyway, I would say I probably got close to the 1/2 ounce mark today with ONE pumping session of 20 minutes!!!

Do not pump while on the Yasmin and start pumping 24 hours after your last pill (I took 42 pills which was 2 packs minus the placebos). I am seeing major success, so don't give up!!!!

The longer you can be on the yasmin and protocol the better. If you don't know when your children will arrive, I would say stay on the yasmin and dom and then when you baby gets there use a Lact-Aid to nurse. If it's been at least a month or two on the yasmin, stop, start pumping and continue to nurse. I hope that makes sense.

Good luck!

I guess I need to ask Lenore what should I do at this point. Like I said, I am not sure when the baby is going to be here and I want to have as much milk as possible if it is even next week. If I start getting an abundance of milk and he is not here, I will just freeze it. Right now, I do not know what I need to be doing. Do I get the Yasmin and stop all the herbs and pumping or do I continue on the same route or what! I am up to 20mg of the Dom 4 x a day, Blessed thistle and Fenugreek 3 caps 3 times a day and pumping 2 times a day....HELP! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I started on the herb/pump routine and got nowhere. So I started the yasmin and dom and stopped pumping. Since I am (hopefully) expecting a baby in two to three weeks, I will only do the yasmin for 30 and then, wile still taking dom, start nursng wiht lact-aid and pump. Since ou are not sure when you will be getting a babe, I would suggest you start the protocol in it's entirety (yasmin and dom, no herbs, no pump) and stay on the yasmin a min of 30 days (longer if you don't have a placement by then) and then add the herbs back in once oyu are off the bcp and still on the dom. (suggested to me by nona)

Pardon my poor typing,

Deborah

Thanks so much for your advice! But after reading a lot of the posts, I am really worried about the mood swings. I have NEVER been able to take bcp because of the mood swings and depression so I am really worried. I had to have a total abdominal hysterectomy in Feb 05 and went through a lot of depression and she started me on Celexa (mood stabilizer) and a hormone patch--Vivelle Dot-- that I change every 3 days. I am finally at a good head space again for the last 6 months ago and actually like myself again. My doctor said that she would prescribe the Yasmin if I REALLY want it, but, worried about me slipping back into the problems again. What do you think? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

that's a question only you and your doc can decide.

For me, the yasmin is making me PMS-y. That means, i'm not sure you'd call it mood swings, but I definetly can fly off the handle. It's not too much different than my usual PMS self. SOme days moe than others. Actually, my PMS symptoms are decreasing somewhat. My breasts are less sore. I'm still a bitch, but my DH might say that's just me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />))

Definitely go over it with your Doc. You might try it and monitor it for those kinds of side effects and then get off of it if you need or use celexa to mitigate. For me, the hormone that is causing all the PMS stuff is the progesterone not the estrogen.

Also, email Lenore and see what she has to say. She is very knowledgeable.

Thanks so much! I think I will email Lenore, although, I think she is still out of town. What usually causes mild PMS symptoms for the "Normal" woman, it sends me off of the edge, so I am really skeptical. Maybe I'll see if I can just get a one month supply and if I start having problems, stop it and go back to what I am already doing. I just love this message board. It helps to be able to have support and answer questions that come up. Thanks Lenore for starting this! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi Luvaboxer,

First I want to say how sorry I am for your losses. As a mother who lost 8 pregnancies before my sons were born via gestational surrogacy, I understand how devastated you must feel.

Now as for all the things you are doing...it's a lot of singing and dancing. The protocol is very simple. Ortho 1/35 and domperidone until about 6 weeks before your baby is due to arrive. At that point you stop the Ortho 1/35, maintain the domperidone and THEN start pumping. It's a lot less stressful and easier on your bladder than drinking all those teas.

The jury is out on some of the herbs your taking like fennel which is in the Mother's Milk Tea. We don't recommend the herbs until you start pumping. And agian we keep it simple, fenugreek and blessed thistle.

Best,

Thanks Lenore! Unfortunately, I do not know when the baby will come...like my social worker told me, it may be tomorrow, next week or 6 months, just always be ready. My doctor is really worried about me being on any type of BCP due to all of the mood "CRASHES" that I have with it. She and the social worker are telling me to do whatever is the most accelerated one there is. Any suggestions other than the BCP? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Ohh...that's a tough one. I can tell you the Yasmin made me mean and snappy at everybody. BCP's have always made me that way. When I was going through IVF, my DP would hide for about 3 weeks!!! If you decided to take the Yasmin, I would talk to your doc about close monitoring since you fear mood swings. I did the accelerated protocol since my daughter was already here. I nursed her with the Lact-Aid during the protocol. After 42 days on the yasmin and dom, I got milk right away. The more I pump, the faster the drops come. Every day I am noticing more, so I dont' know if that is because I went on the yasmin or if it's just the dom doing it's thing.

If the dom and herbs aren't working for you right now I would suggest you work with your doc and try the yasmin. See how it makes you feel. If it's not working you can always stop.

Good luck.
