I have some questions. I have been on the regular protocol for about 4 - 5 months and following the protocol exactly.
1) Every pump session (every two hours for 15 min) I get approx 6 - 10 drops out of each breast. Is this a good sign that my milk supply will come in? Today I am getting 2x-3x the amount I was getting on yesterday.
2) I get more drops out in the middle of my pumping session when I message shake and hand express my breast. Hurts but I feel like I'm getting everything out and each seesion I get more and more drops. Is it normal for most of the drops to come out when I use my hands and not the pump?
3) My drops are yellowish clear looking and kindof sticky. Is this normal? Today they are more liquid and runny.
4) It is much more comfortable to lay down and pump and it doesn't hurt (discomfort not pain) but it seems to suck harder when I sit up ....... does it work better if I sit up?

Thanks in advance for answering all of my questions.

Kris

Congrats on getting milk!! You're doing great. I think most if not all of what you've posted is very normal. I don't know about the suction on the pump with sitting vs laying down. I've never tried any position other than sitting.

Congrats!! Keep it up and you will see more and more every day. I am now getting very fast drops and about 10 ml total every day (There would be more, but I have been really bad about pumping every 2-3 hours). I usually get anywhere from 11/2 ml to 3 ml every time I pump. It just depends on the frequency. The longer I wait, the more I get, but that's only because it has built up in the milk ducts (or so I have been told). So, if I would be doing this every 2-3 hours I would probably be seeing streams by now!

I don't hand express, but I do notice that I can get the milk out if I push into my breasts with the cones. If I move them all around and push on different areas of my breasts it will coax a few more drops out. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Good luck and congrats again!! I think you are on your way to seeing a great supply!
