I am wondering what to do for sure.....

Daily Routine/History: I have been on the yasmin for 2 weeks and on the 40mg of Dom. a day.......(I didnt have enough to do a full amount-But I have 1600 coming and should be here in the next couple days.) Ok, I had milk probably 3-4 months ago.....b/c I was attempting to nurse my other baby and he would have none of it.......The new baby is due Jan. 27th .........Any suggestions what I should do..........Should I continue one more month (through December)of Yasmin and full Dom and then start pumping or should I finish this month off (one more week)with full Dom and then start pumping?????

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

P.S. I am headed to the Dominican Republic for a full week in Jan. for some R&R (beaches and good looking cabana boys) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> with my sister before the baby is born, so I will be pumping away from home regardless.....So should I get started so the routine is going or try and establish a routine there.....Nope I can't make this easy!!

Hi Shelley,

Congratulations on your impending arrival. Moms in your position have found that the longer they can do the bcp/domperidone combination, the more breastmilk they end up with. You need to give yourself at least 6 weeks pumping time to be in decent shape for your baby's arrival. Kindly discuss all of this with your doctor so that you can be monitored and educate at the same time.

It's also imporant to note that with today's airline restrictions, you may not be able to bring your pumped milk on board the aircraft home with you and if you have to change planes and go through security more than once during your trip home, you may be required to dump your milk before boarding because liquids from outside the secure area are not allowed on board and formula or breastmilk are not allowed unless the infant is with you. This is the current information regarding travelling with infants and children: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

The other problem is that the frozen gel packs are not allowed. You can probably check your milk in a cooler but that would cut down on the bags you can take with you. One large suitcase and one cooler unless you pack the cooler one of your suitcases. The size of the cooler would depend on your milk supply at that point.

In cases for moms whose infants are travelling with them, they would need to bring an empty ziplock with them and beg some nice vendor for ice to keep their milk cold.

And then there is the issue of the breastpump which may not be allowed on board to begin with. It's important for you to check in advance with your airline and with the Transportation Security Administration to find out what you can and cannot do.

Best,

I was actually thinking of dumping the milk the week I was there b/c I am guessing there maybe a few drinks involved <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> So that is not as big of a problem. I had a fairly decent supply 3-4 mos ago but of course now I have none.

So you think to stay on the Yasmin/Dom until the middle of Dec. then get off and start pumping.......right? (Baby due Jan 27th). So I will need one more month of Yasmin and then the full supply of Dom.........

I will figure out what to do with the airlines and in the mean time I will get the full Dom supply going and the Yasmin for another month.......

thanks Lenore~ <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
