I have been pumping for 3 weeks, regular protocol, and expecting a surrogate baby, by the end of week 2 I was pumping 1.5 ounces a day on each breast. Which I was very happy with, but then I had some blocked ducts and now in week 3 I am barley getting 1/2 oz. each side by the end of the day.

Has anyone had this problem? Does the supply build back up. How many ounces were you pumping at 3 week into the process.

Today I have 2 ml each time I pump, so much less than where I was a week ago.?

I am on 90mg of Dom a day and taking the 2 herbs 2 times a day.

I've been pumping for over two months and still only get drops in the bottle.

You might try upping your herb dose to three three times a day.

Hey Steffydoodles,

Have you tried hand pumping, that is to say, expressing the milk y hand? Sounds like a lot of other woman have much better results that way. There are recent post on this subject.
Just trying to encourage you.

I've tried, Linda... but with no real results. I'm thinking I might not be doing it right. If anyone has some directions, I'd love a copy. smile

Try this. Just remember that you are starting back from the dark part of you nipple and moving towards it. Once you get a spray just experiment from there. There are also some videos on you tube with women showing you how to do it. Don't give up smile

I think it is time to find a lacatation consultant(LC) in your area who can meet with you. I think it would help you to have a person beside you to help out. You can do this!

I found an LC while buying some cloth diapers. We were just talking and she told me she is and LC as well as sells BG diapers. I sure will use her once I get to that point in this journey.

Check your dosage of the herbs. It sounds like you are taking less than the protocol calls for. I think you should be able to build back your supply. But it does sound frustrating. Ugh.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts.

I will up my herbs and a lactation consultant told me to pump 8 times a day when ever possible.

I am just hoping when the baby gets here he increases my milk supply a good amount.

You also may want to add lecithin to try to prevent any further clogged ducts. There is more information about blocked ducts in the breastfeeding section of this website. But here is what the recommendations are:

1 tablespoon/day of lecithin or 1 lecithin capsule (1200 mg) 3-4 times per day may be helpful to decrease blocked ducts

This may be hurting your supply without you realizing! It might be worth a try!!

Good luck with your impending arrival!!

Between both breasts I get 2 - 2.5 oz a day. Been pumping for 4 weeks now.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

How much were you able to supply your baby versus supplements?

How much did your supply increase when the baby arrived?
