Hi, I have an Ameda Egnell Elite pump. It is supposed to be a hospital grade pump, I borrowed it from a friend. I looked them up and they are about $750.00 to buy outright. My question is this, I got carried away the other day reading a book while pumping and went almost 30 minutes. I had more milk then I ever had. I usually pump about 15 minutes. My breasts seem to take about five minutes to get the idea all of the time before they start anyway. Do you think it is me or the pump? Thanks, Becky

My breasts sometimes take a little time to get going, too. And often, if I pump for a full 15 minutes, I will have another let down, so I am sure that is what happened to you. I think if I pumped for an hour, I would have other letdowns, too, because breasts continue making milk the whole time. But who wants to sit there for an hour?
Don't worry about it taking a few minutes before your breasts get going. I think that is normal.
