Hello.
I have started to induce lactation using Motilium and have not noticed many changes. I have done one week of 4 tablets per day and half a week on the 8 per day. I generally pump once per day. Am I expecting too much too soon and should I be pumping more often? I only get a drop generally. I am at work during the day so pumping is not possible then.
Thanks from this newbie!

Hi Dianne, That you are getting drops is a great start. The more often you can pump, the better. If you are expecting a baby within the next 3 months, it would be great if you could get in 3 or 4 pumping sessions per day. But it is tough to do lots of pumping extremely far in advance or if a baby is not definite.

It takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get the full effect of the domperidone. And that is AT FULL DOSE. 2 tablets 4 times a day. I would up my meds and my pumping as well. The more you pump the more your body will make milk. It sends a signal to the brain a baby is at the breast needing to be fed.

Some of the ladies here have also said that letting the motilium dissolve under your tongue seems to be more effective for producing milk. Are you doing anything other than motilium and pumping? Do you have a baby in sight? Have you looked into the NG Protocol? Just some questions to get a better feel for where you are at. <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the replies. Surrogate baby being carried by my sister and is due in June. I have never breastfeed/been pregnant so I am not sure if that has a bearing on the milk supplies either. I guess it is still a little early - will give full medication time to kick in!
Thanks

Diane Wow that is great. It doesn't matter that you have never been PG or breastfed. Since you know for sure when that you are having a baby (with your sweet sisters help) you are a perfect candidate for the Newman Goldfarb Protocol. Unless of course you have contraindications. Have you read Lenore's story? The NG protocol info is on the main index for Medical Interventions to Induce. It is your very best bet for getting a complete supply for your child. Best to you!
