Hi Ladies,

For those of you who are breastfeeding, or just pumping while using domperidone....has AF continued? I did 8 weeks of the accelerated protocol over the summer and missed a period at that time (was on diane) but once I started pumping AF returned, twice. Now, this past month she's nowhere to be seen. I had a bit of spotting last week (very very small amount) but that was it. I *think* I was due the week of the 16th. I was just wondering how normal it is to miss a period while bfeeding. Last I checked I was producing about 6 ounces per day, but I haven't pumped in a while, I just bfeed Heidi before each bottle (sometimes she doesn't take a bottle because she gets enough milk, like the first feed in the morning) and once or twice in teh night (no bottles at night, just nursing). Maybe I'm producing 9 or 10 ounces per day? I think that might be a stretch.....so, do you think this would be enough to prevent AF?

Thanks,
Elaine

Most women when breastfeeding or pumping frequently miss their periods. It is a pretty common thing. I know I had mine right after coming off of hte Diane, but the next month I didnt. As long as I kept my pumping schedule up I didn't get a period. As soon as I reduced pumping to 3 times a day or less it returned but if I upped it again to 8-12 pumpings a day again I didn't see it anymore. Well, I had to finish that cycle but the next cycle I wouldn't get my period again.
It's sort of natures natural birth control <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hope this helps

Hi Elaine,

Susan's right. When I did the protocol I had lots of breakthrough bleeding on and off. Sometimes it was like a real period. Then when I started pumping and breastfeeding, I didn't see my period for a year.

I think Lenore went through a similar thing when she did the protocol. Lenore?

Hi Elaine,

This sounds normal. I spotted the whole time on the extened protocol. When I started pumping in Aug. nothing! I stopped pumping a month ago still nothing. I expect AF to show up any time, but it has been a nice break.

The best to you,
Patty
