I would really love to try and breast feed them but had a total hystorectomy in 97

I'm unable to do the protocol because I get blood clot and hubby will not allow me to risk it our babies need a mummy he says and he is right LOL

I would love to recieve all the information I can on doing this the natrual way I have started Blessed Thistle and fenugreek 3x 3 a <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> day and been pumping 5 to 10 mins twice a day but I feel I'm not doing this right so please any help you can give me would be great

bridget welcome!
Okay its going to take a bit more work the natural way. But you can do it with patience. I would suggest getting domperidone. It raises your prolactin levels, which in turn makes you make milk. You need to drink plenty of water. Take domperidone 2 10 mg tablets 4 times a day. Also take blessed thistle and fenugreek 3 capsules 3 times a day. Eat oatmeal atleast 3 times a week.. its good on milk production to. And one of the most important. You will need to pump atleast every 3 hours. Also do breast massages in small circles all the way around your breasts before you pump. Just remember it may take you over a month to see drops... But persistance is the key....

Adoptive mommy to 4 , Last 2 adopted nursed. Youngest nursed till she was 5! Raising 2 grandbabies, as infants they were raised on donor breast milk smile

Hi Bridget,
You might like to check out the following websites for information about herbs and breastfeeding
http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/index.html (same website has lots of good information on relactation and induced lactation)
http://www.motherlove.com/ (where you can buy herbs including the more milk tinctures and goats rue- which according to some reports when taken frequently will really help breast tissue grow)
http://www.who.int/child-adolescent-health/New_Publications/NUTRITION/Relactation_EN.html (world health organisation publication on relactation)
and
http://www.fourfriends.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat= (Adoptive breastfeeding resource website bulletin board where there are quite a few women who just use herbs)
You need to pump heaps more frequently than you currently are but might want to wait until it is a bit closer to when the babies come. Pumping frequently is hard work, you need to be able to manage it.
Lots of women make heaps of milk without taking hormones and even if you don't get to pump beforehand when the babies come you will have a lot of breast stimulation that's for sure!
Best Wishes
Dawn

Hi Bridget,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I know that Lenore has been out of the country for a couple of weeks visiting her surrogate mom who is currently pregnant with Lenore's 2nd baby. So she hasn't been online that much. I'm sure you'll hear from her soon. She's really good at responding and she doesn't mind if you email her. She can be reached at lenore@asklenore.info or lengold@sprynet.com

Domperidone is a really good way to go if you can't take the bcp. One of the moms was able to produce a full supply by pumping and using the domperidone. The key is to pump every 2-3 hours by day and as the due date approaches, to pump at least once during the night. Lenore can help you with this, just email her.

Also, I just want to mention that the four friends site is good for "natural advice" but they really have some rather unpleasant things to say about Lenore over there...just FYI, it's a bunch of sour grapes because she left there (by popular demand) to start her own site. So take what you hear about her over there with a grain of salt ok? She's really is a very good and honest person with her own clinic. She donates her time to help us moms.

Just my two cents.

Esther
