Hello all,

Well I am finally off housemom duty( 11 extra little girls to take care of daily), which means I can try to work harder on upping my milk supply. NOTE : I do live in Bolivia so some natural stuff isn't available. No lactating consultants either. : )

Ok, what I need to know:
First, I was only on the accelerated protocol for 1 month. The statement reads that the milk supply can be significantly lower this way. Any one out there found that to be true? Or is there hope?

2ndly, I am doing all I can; oats, 120 domp, fenegreek and blessed thistle. Anything else I can consume?

3rd, I am going to try and pump every 2 hours, will that make a difference? I just tried right now and I am getting a very small amount, about an 1 ounce. Realizing that this does not signify how much milk I have produced.

Audrey will stay on the breast for at least an 1/2 hr before taking the supplement ( lact aid is SOOOO much better than the other) but prefers the right breast to the left. The left produces less, which she takes offense at!
At this point she takes any where from 2-4 ounces from the supplement, 4 being the norm. She is almost 3 months old.

Felt discouraged at the success stories listed, IF ONLY I could have 28 oz a day!

Guess that's all my rambling. I realize I have much to be thankful for, I do have milk, and a daughter who gladly latches on most of the time.

thanks
Linda

Hi Linda,

I can't really answer your questions, but wanted to say keep up the good work! Remember that if you pump more often, then initially the daily amount you make will seem to go down. I mean, 4 sessions that produce 1 oz each = 4 oz / day. If you increase the sessions to 8, don't expect 1 oz at each session right away, a 1/2 oz x 8 = 4 oz. It can be discouraging because you think you are making less. Hope that makes sense.

I hope others will chime in here. My only other suggestion is to make sure you are drinking enough water and that you're fully hydrated. Your pee pee should be closer to clear than yellow. Hope that helps smile
Nancy
