Hi,

I was just wondering if there is an "average" amount that women get when pumping, before baby?

I have been pumping for just over a month, after being on the protocol. (accelerated by default).

I am getting about 6-7 ounces a day. I guess I am just wondering what everyone else is getting.

Thanks,
Dawn

Dawn - I think it really just depends on the person. I didn't have any notice so I started pumping the day we were placed with DD after being on the protocol for 8 months. My supply built up pretty quickly, but that could be partly because we already had our daughter with us. I think I was making about 5-6 oz after a week (this was exclusively pumping, I didn't really start bf her until she was a week old).

I think 6-7 oz a day is great. It will probably steadily increase the longer you pump and when you have your baby it will probably increase quicker. A baby is so much better than a pump.
