I think I have finally perfected the art of manual expression, it's great I can slip into a bathroom anytime anywhere, and althought it goes to waste I see my supply rebuiling wonderfully with this added stimulation. My question though is, if baby is feeding on the breast at night through morning and all day weekends and I'm manually expressing at work and when I'm away from her is there any added benefit to pumping in addition? I'm so sick of that pump and washing the pieces and finding an electric outlet if I can skip that I"d love to, but not if it means I'm not getting the right kind of stimulation to continue rebuilding and maintaining my supply. Thanks for your thoughts.

HI Barbara,

Congratulations!! Learning to express by hand is one of the more difficult techniques to master.

Yes. Pumping plays a significant role by stimulating your breasts even if you don't see a drop of milk in the bottles. You are doing a fantastic job at maintaining your milk supply and spending good quality skin to skin time with your baby.

If you can pump, great. If you have to skip a few...fine. You're in charge....Do whatever feels best.

Fondly,
