Hi! I have a question for anyone to help me out. Here is some background on this question. I have been taking domperidone and herbs until I ran out of herbs. I had to break away from the domperidone, while I was sick with the stomach bug. This weekend I will be going back on the domperidone and hopefully the herbs again. Now here is my question, I just received an SNS and I want to use it to help build up my supply for my little one (he has been sick due to a bad reactions that affects his whole body, due to allergies for three weeks, then caught the stomach bug, he was healthy for a week, and now is sick again due to another bad reaction). I am really trying hard to help him out, he is so miserable when this happens. He has severe allergies to many different kinds of things and asthma, it is hard to keep up with all of them. So I need to up my supply for him, can I use regular soymilk with vanilla (this is what I use with my cereal in the morning due to my own allergies) in the SNS with the breast to help him up my supply with the domperidone and herbs? I don't have any pumped breastmilk to put in the SNS I have a hard time with pumping for some reason. Do I use the SNS at all feedings, plus do I need to wake him up during the night to feed him with the SNS and breast (the every two hours schedule)? Since it is the weekend (my hubby will be home from work to help out with the rest of the family) I have plenty of time to breastfeed him with the SNS and I can use my sling when we are out to continue to up my supply. I hope I can use the SNS out in public this weekend, have any others used it out in public while breastfeeding? Any help would be wonderfully appreciated. (Sorry so long.) Have a great weekend. <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi, you don't say how old your baby is but based on the every two hours schedule you mention I am going to assume he is newborn to a few months old. So, with that in mind you shouldn't use vanilla soymilk to supplement him. I would suggest soybased formula in the SNS or one of the other formulas designed for those with allergies. There just aren't enough nutrients in soymilk for a small baby.
As for breastfeeding in public with a supplemental system I did it often with my daughter. I used the lact-aid though and once I had the hang of nursing with it then it was easy to use in public. Depending on where you are you can usually find a quiet corner to nurse in. The more you nurse in public the more comfortable you will become.
