Hi Everyone,

Many have asked about the Ebay source for pumps. Well we now have direct access. You can reach the lady with the wonderful prices on Ebay by looking for her email addy which is hprn@aol.com or you can go to her site directly at www.pumpingmoms.com Her name is Heidi.

Hope this helps. Fondly

Lenore,
I looked at her site... and her prices seem a bit high <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" /> A PIS is 225.00.. remember you can get new sealed ones from ebay for 189.00 <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Hi Nona,

Can you do me a favor and check out her email identification on ebay? She said she was the lady providing those less expensive pumps. Do you have a direct link to the ones for $189?

Thanks for the "heads up" my dear friend. <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi Nona,

Yes. This is a good site. The pump costs US$170 plus about US$18 for shipping by air. So it comes out to about the same as the ebay price. Thanks Nona!!

Also, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind posting the shipping instructions for breastmilk for the mommies who are pumping and shipping. There are moms who are pumping while travelling to pick up their babies and who wish to ship their milk home. Can you post that in the breastfeeding section?

Thanks so much Nona. You're a wealth of information and a treasured member. <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Medela does have a pricing policy that limits the amount of discount their authorized distributors can offer - if they discover that someone is selling the pumps for less than they have agreed (I think the maximum is 15% less than the suggested retail price) Medela can and will stop selling them pumps and supplies and Medela will not honor the warranty if there is a problem. Some of the pumps sold at great discounts are actually 'slightly used'. So do be careful if you buy one online.

I sure wish I had talked with all of you before I paid almost $300.00 for my PIS and that did not even include the battery pack! Ugh,,,,now I know a cheaper place to go to tell other moms! Thanks, Cathy

Hi Ladies,

Samantha brings up a very good point. The prices that the websites have offered us are because we are a group. If any one of you have received a used pump when you were expecting a new one please let me know ASAP. The pump should arrive in a sealed box unless it was opened by a customs inspector.

Note that we here at the Ask Lenore website do not make any commissions or other income derived from our assistance with breastfeeding mothers. We donate our time and our energy. Nevertheless it is good to proceed with caution when ordering from an auction site.

Fondly,

I found another place where you could order PIS online for for $188 (169.95 + 18 for FedEx ground shipping): http://www.fjroberts.com/medela/medela.htm

For most items, they do not ship outside the continental United States. Pennsylvania deliveries subject to $11.2 sales tax.

Hope this helps.

I just got a pump in the mail from Heidi & haven't been very pleased with my experience with her.

#1- She doesn't answer her emails promptly. She says in her ad to call or email her--she NEVER would send me her phone number & it took her sometimes over a day to write back.

#2- I paid $40 extra to have the bpump shipped next day...she agreed to send it on Thursday, but didn't ship it out until Friday (and then had the nerve to tell me that SHE sucked up the extra cost for weekend delivery).

I'm not sure if I'm making much sense or not...all in all, it really upset me that she said she'd get the pump in the mail immediately (and I paid immmediately via paypal), but didn't follow through with her side of the bargain. Oh well...just wanted to pass the word on!

Hi Candace,

Thank you for posting. This is important feedback. How long did the transaction take start to finish?

I won the auction on Wednesday and contacted her immediately asking if she would overnight the next day. She responded Thursday saying she would overnight it so I sent the money immediately thru Paypal and asked her to provide me with a confirmation #. On Friday I got a confirmation from UPS that she shipped it on Friday (instead of Thursday as promised). I received it on Saturday.

Another thing that really upset me is that she says to call her with questions...I requested her phone number in several emails (to confirm) and she never gave it to me.

One more thing...I have bought a lot of things via ebay (and my mother is a seller on ebay) so I know how quickly most people respond--it would often take her a full day or so to get back to me. I wasn't very impressed with her as a seller.

All in all, my milk ended up drying up (suck a lot!) so I will end up starting the protocol soon.

BTW, guess what, Lenore? I showed the protocol to my dr--she said that she's going to look it over, but is very excited for me & is willing to do whatever she can to help (and see if our insurance will cover any of this). I will need to get started in the next week or two as our adoption consultant has had us schedule a home study & thinks we will qualify for the accerated program...since we might have only 2-3 months before we have a baby in the house, would you recommend me doing the faster protocol?

Thanks, Lenore!!
