My son was born 8/20. He was given bottle in hospital x 3 days, now he is home, I have 1-1.5oz of milk per day. He cannot seem to latch. I have tried leaving milk on my nipple, but to no avail! He gets frustrated and so do I when I see him get frustrated. What can I do? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

FInd a board certified lactation consultant to help you get him latched.

you also might need a lactation aid to help him stay latched until your milk builds up. I would call your hospital and see about seeing your lactation consultant

Hi Rosioh,

Congratulations on your new arrival!! You can find a board certified lactation consultant here: www.iblce.org Just click on the "About IBLCE" button and the US and International registries pop up. You can arrange for the LC to come to your home and assist you. It's likely a simple matter of adjusting your positioning so that baby can latch.

In the meantime, have a look at this page: http://www.asklenore.info/breastfeeding/latching_diagrams.html
