Hi, I have been on BCP for about 3 months now and have had spotting/bleeding for the past two weeks. I read in previous posts that this has happened to others and is not a concern. However, it is very annoying. I am wondering if this will continue until I start pumping. As well, it seems to be getting worse. My pad is never soaked, but I certainly have to change it every three hours. Is this okay? Is there anything else I can do? I found the 2nd month of being on the protocol to be awesome. I didn't have bleeding. No mood swings. Now, I feel as though I have PMS every third day - bloating, grumpy. Help! I have to go through two more months of this??!!

Punky some women do experience this break through bleeding. I think Lenore did. I don't know how long it will last hopefully not long. Are you taking your BCP at the same time everyday? Try that it may help regulate it some.

Lalle, I take the BCP every night before bed. Bedtime varies from 10-11pm, but I can't imagine that making a difference.

I am going to be starting this protocol in the next couple days is bleeding normal? From what I read it sounded like there would not be menstral cycles just a question that I am curious about Thanks Tia

I started the accelerated protocol about a week before AF was due. Three weeks into it I bled for about 2 weeks straight, but never very heavy (like I usually do). I called my fertility doc to ask her about it (she was the one that prescribed me the Yasmin) and she said that I probably should have waited until after AF to start the protocol, but if I didn't mind the bleeding then it's fine. Break through bleeding happens pretty frequently, I think.

As for affecting the protocol I don't know. Maybe Lenore can shed some light on taht for us. I doubt it matters.

Lenore - could you help us ? When you say breakthrough bleeding or spotting... how much do you mean? This is like I am on the third day of a regular period, but lasting for 2+ weeks. I will endure whatever I need to , but I need to know if this is okay.
Thanks,

You know I just thought that consistancy might be a factor but it sounds like in your case that isn't an issue.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for the delay in response. I've had some connection problems.

Unfortunately, breakthrough bleeding is to be expected while on the protocols. I bled the whole time I was on the regular protocol but once I stopped the birth control pill and started pumping, I didn't see "aunt Flow" for a year the first time and it's been three years this time around.

I'm just in the process of weaning and not looking forward to starting up the monthly grind. If I could just swing right into menopause right now it would be perfect <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hang in there ladies. I know it's a pain but in the end it is so worth it.

Best,

Thank you so much Lenore. So... just to clarify for this paranoid soul.... this will not affect the outcomes? Even if the bleeding is like a period?

Thanks,

Nope. I bled all the way through the protocol and brought in over 30 ounces per day.

Hello I started the regular protocol on Thursday and I was just wondering it says that your breast will be larger after the first week and when you start the domperidone 2 tablets 4 times a day is that when I will start to feel more of a change I know it will not happen over night but I thought I would start feeling things by now and I am not a small woman with my PCOS I am a little overweight and is the 20mg domperidone going to be enough for me to be able to produce milk? And when you said that you bleed Lenore is that you had a period ever month or did you bleed every day of the protocol? By the way hope you had an enjoyable time on your boat ride I think I will have more questions as I go on but that is all I have for now Thanks Tia

Tia, you say you started the protocol, but then you mention the dom. You are taking both the yasmin and dom right now, correct? Because you are supposed to be taking the Yasmin and taking the dom working up to 20g 4 times a day. (80mg of dom total for the day)
As for your question you don't need to add in any more dom just because you are larger. That is the dose everyone takes. If you follow the protocol you should have good results. There is no way to predict how much milk you will produce. The best way to ensure the most success with milk production is to stay the course with the protocol and when it comes time to pump be totally committed to your pumping schedule.

Lalle I am doing the regular protocol there was nothing in it that said about yasmin that is the accelerated not the regular and yes I am taking domperidone and tomorrow I start taking 2 every 4 times do I need the yasmin in the regular protocol I did not read that but I could have missed it!! Thanks for addressing this now my next question is about bleeding how much and for what period of time I have been bleeding for the whole time and from last month but I am just curious. And one more q1uestion what is the easiest way to get domperidone? I got 675 tabs from a woman in Texas but that was all that she had thanks Tia

Tia, both protocols use the Yasmin. The only difference is that withthe accelerated the time is shorter than the regular. As far as how long you stay on it. You need to reread the protocol again. You need to be taking the Yasmin and the dom to mimic a pregnancy. This is how you trick your body into producing milk. When you do the regular protocol you stay on both the Yasmin and dom until your baby is in sight. Then you stop taking the Yasmin (now your body thinks you have given birth) Continue the dom add the herbs and start pumping.

If you are bleeding right now like that it doesn't have anything to do with the protocol. It is the Yasmin that can make you have some bleeding throughout and you are not taking that yet. Hope that clears it up for you. I would really suggest that you read the protocol again just to be sure you understand it fully.

Oh and as for the domperidone I found the easiest way for me was to get it through Global drug in New Zealand

Lalle I did reread the regular protocol and all that is says about is the active birth control pill and I am on it and I am also under the care of an IBCLC and she read the protocol too and nothing was said about yasmin. Unless the birth control pill and Yasmin are the same thing?! But if I have to be on yasmin I will talk to my IBCLC and is it available here in the United States?? Thanks I will try to check messages tomorrow as I use my computer at work and am off for the nest couple of days Thanks Tia

Tia, what kind of bcp are you taking? Bakerybabe is right Yasmin is the bcp.
So you are taking the bcp without any breaks right, the active pills only. Right? How long have you been on the two together? And when is your baby coming?

Hi Tia,

We recommend Ortho 1/35 for the regular protocol, Yasmin for the accelerated.

As for the bleeding question, I have uterine fibroids and bled every day for 6 months. I didn't go through more than 1 or 2 super tampons per day. Some days the bleeding was heavier than others. It's important to be monitored by your doctor so that he/she can prescribe an iron supplment if necessary.

Best,

Best,

Hello thank you for clarifing that so the Ortho is fine that I am taking then?! I am not quite sure what the dosage is on it and I just asked about the bleeding because with my PCOS some months I go without a period and then I bleed for a month or two and I thought that this would give me a break my bleeding is not to bad my breast are tender and I don't know if they are any more swollen or not they are already big so I can not tell that but tender is the only feeling that is different right now any way thanks Tia

Ok have one more question when I go to order domperidone I am going to need a perscription so this is my question can a doctor in the United States right the perscription and I get my domperidone that way or do I have to do something very different? I do not need domperidone right now but in about 1 and 1/2 months I will need to see about getting some more just so that I do not run out before my supply is gone thanks Tia <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

tia, you can only get domperidone in the US at a compounding pharmacy and there are only a few of those.
Most of the women on the protocol order theirs from globaldrug out of New Zealand. They have great prices and fast shipping for overseas.

No prescriptions are needed for anything they sell from global drugs! You just go to the website www.globaldrug.tv and look up what you need and place the order. In 10-14 days, it's delivered to your mailbox! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
