I have a special needs baby(he is 4 months old) who I have to ep for. I would like to nurse him but his lacthing on is poor. It seems like I pump just enough to keep him happy but I don't think its enough to have him full. I pump every 3 to 4 hours and get about 3-6 oz. I started him on creal this month and it seems to help with keeping him happy.

As of right now I'm taking Goat's Rue 2 cap 2x per day and Brewer's Yeast 4 tab 3x per day. I also eat oatmeal or snack bars with oats in it. I have read that Domperidone is to help with boosting milk supply. I would really like to try this but I won't have the money to until my husband has been in the Army for about a month or two. Does anyone know if TriCare will cover this med?

Right now I'm so stressed and this could be another reason why my supply is low. It seems like everything is hitting me all at once right now.

Like I said I pump every 3-4 hours (I know I should be pumping ever 2-3 hours). When I get ready to pump my breasts feel firm and full of milk I pump any where from 15 min to 1 hr (1hr when I have time to but mostly 15 mins) after pumping I have noticed that my breasts still feel firm and full of milk. When I feel the milk ducts they still feel like they have milk in them still. Is this caused by the Goat's Rue or do I have a cloged duct? Is there a way to help get rid of the clogged duct if this is what it is? (the area doesn't feel hot to the touch it feels like the ducts deep inside the breast are still full).

Is there anything I can do to help boost my milk supply until we get TriCare or can afford Domperidone?

Thank you sorry this is so all over the place its almost 2 am.

TDZ what pump are you using? Is it a double pump? With a good pump you should be able to pump both breasts at once for 20 minutes and get them emptied. Do you get 3-6 oz each pumping session?
Have you seen a lactation consultant about your baby's latch?

As for the domperidone most likely Tricare isn't going to cover it. You have to get domperidone from outside the US
BlessedThistle and Fenugreek both help milk supply. 3 caps 3 times daily.

I have PIS and I use it as a double pump. Yes I get 3-6 oz each time I pump. No I have seen a lactation consultant I haven't been able to find one. It seems the ones around here are WIC nurses and they don't seem to know what to do.

Dear TDZ,

Please email me at lenore@asklenore.info and give me your city and state and area code. I will do my best to find you a lactation consultant in your area.

TDZ 3-6 oz a session is good. I am sure if you can get baby on your breast your supply will go up. I am very proud of you for exclusively pumping for him up to this point.
