My dd is now 4months old. I am making a full supply for her. I have not had a period in 4 months. My last period was the day we brought her home from the hospital. I know that this is normal but my question is what if I do get pregnant. How would I know and is the domperidone safe during pregnancy? Thank You

Hi Julie,

Congratulations on your daughter's arrival and your full milk supply. If you want to, you can start to slowly wean off the domperidone at this point by following the instructions on this webpage: http://www.asklenore.info/breastfeeding/induced_lactation/stopping_domperidone.html

Domperidone is not recommended in pregnancy so our advice would be to wean off the domperidone before attempting to become pregnant again. Your baby will most likely start solid foods at 6 months of age and will likely require less milk from you at that point. So if you want to become pregnant, this would probably be the sort of time frame for making the attempt.

Warmest regards,
