I had to share this...
We have a beautifull 6 months old with us since October. He was breastfed at birth for 1-2 days, then bottlefed. I was planning to prepare to bf our adoptive baby, but it happened so fast, I had only 2 weeks to prepare... Having bfed our bio daughter for 2 1/2 year I still had drops of milk, so I took dom and Goat's Rue and pumped. Getting close to nothing at first and then more and more... I still don't have a lot, about 5-6 oz/day. I can't find time to pump more than 2-3 times/day. Our baby was recovering from a bronchitis when he arrived, so I was very happy to be able to give him a little boost - even if it was very little...
What was surprising is that when I was holding him he still had the reflex to search for the breast! He still new how to latch! But there was not enough mikl for him, not flowing fast enough and he got frustrated. I tried with the feeding tube, with the help of a bf consultant, but didn't like it - the baby neither... after that he didn't want to take the breast anymore, he got angry and cried every time I tried. So I resigned to pump and give him what I could with a bottle. I still tryed once in a while to offer him the breast. And my patience had been rewarded! For 2 days now he nurses in the morning and at night for long periods (20-30 minutes). I'm so happy!

Jalx That is so fantastic. Even that little bit of nursing is doing him so much good. Keep it up!

hi Jalx,

Thank you for this wonderful update. I'm curious to know whether the breastfeeding consultant you worked with was a board certified lactation consultant?

If you email me at lengold@sprynet.com I'll be happy to send you a file with photos explaining how to use the supplementary feeding tube device.

In the meantime your baby is receiving significant immune benefits as you breastfeed and/or provide breastmilk. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Best,
